Sure it does. If the weapon was in a hidden place in an already searched room, maybe they assumed the weapon was there in chapter 1 and they were the first to find it
tbh I think we’re just pretending to know way more than we actually do. all we actually know is:
killer poisoned Marhsal’s food/drink
killer visited the Rec Room to get an injector
The first thing is not a fact.
It is a possibility. They could also just… Directly injected the poison
they could have just stabbed him in the cafeteria twice with the poison, we dont even know if it was from the food
