Arete sighed. “You know, part of me would have actually liked sticking around…”

Tan shoved a note card into Arete’s hands and held the microphone up to their face. Arete looked down to the note card and shakily read the unfamiliar text.

Arete was interrupted as a bolt of lightning streaked down from the strangely cloudless sky and fried them.
Tan could only laugh. “No one ever remembers that old trick! Gotta love it!”
