btw I have Thoughts™ about Poppy Grower being in this setup, but I think most notably it’s because you need more than the Poppy Grower/Magician/Mole package to make that work. You need a lot of village roles who would plausibly fakeclaim, something which is very much a thing in Midnight At The House Of The Damned and which isn’t there here
or more funky reasons why so many people are doubling up like it being a Legion game
for example Heretic might fakeclaim because they don’t want wolves to know their wincon is to kill their flagbearer, so that explains the doubling up
here there’s not really much reason to fakeclaim beyond speciifcally Mole
like I guess there’s Magician, but Magician is more of an edge possibility for why somebody might fakeclaim, but does that really count?
Midnight is designed around everybody having a potential (but not always overriding) imperative to lie, while this setup is not, and that imbalances Poppy Grower.
overall this setup needs more uncertainty. theres not that many sources of misinformation within the setup itself (i.e. not including channel-master)
as far as i can tell their’s the revenant and the arete. everything else is about mind games and actions, but those are the only two real sources of misinformation where there otherwise wouldnt be
i feel what this setup needs is non-role uncertainty, which is, again, what Midnight At The House of the Damned is based on. and those roles are kind of overwriting the others in this game because they’re so dramatic and powerful
no but like
Midnight has Choirboy and King, and Choirboy has to not claim because they’re the only thing stopping the Demon from killing the King.
Same with Damsel, who wants their claim to only be in the hands of villagers unless they want to instantly lose. There are just a lot of instances like this in the tiny fragment of that setup we know about, and that undermines the balance of this setup.
In conclusion, this setup should be played like weird Mountainous with a flagbearer.
Cloned feels a lot like Demon.
