So red is be the creation and manipulation of fire, right? This means that it effectively heats up a particular area until it is considered a flame or until it flashburn.
In order to know how much it would have to heat up an area, it would have to know what temperature it is currently. Via this you can ask the current temperature for anything in your range.
You could then use this to sense over your range for any human body shapes of heat, around body temperature.
