[MISC] Coup Thread A - Solic Wins! (1/5)

Why wouldn’t you want to Coup?

It’s great fun!

Losing 7 coins for something my assassin has a chance to get me for 3 (If I have an assassin) doesn’t seem as good value.

Since I’d get 2 attempts for the cost of a coup
Besides, we’re duke bros so I wasn’t gonna target you anyway

Assassin can be blocked.

The way of Capitalism cannot!

The captain would like to know your location

If someone tries to steal from me, it’ll only delay the Coup by 1 turn, which will be going their way.

If 2 people steal from you it’d be basically you earning -1 coin a turn.

If two people both try to steal from me there is absolutely no way I’m not CC’ing at least 1 of them.

Everyone has passed, so I might as well make my move already.

What a brilliant idea PKR, have some retribution. :upside_down_face:

:exclamation: I claim Captain and I choose to steal two coins from @PokemonKidRyan

How do you feel about an alliance? You can see in my past Misc games that I’m a quite reliable ally and maybe easy to read and clearly PKR has chosen to become my enemy.

Hahaha, oh this is entertaining.

Shame that it’s just not going to happen

Alliances in Coup are rather shameful. I think it’s fine to do a limited deal, like saying you won’t steal from someone for 2 turns if they use their next coup on someone else. Things like that. But trying to form an alliance to work together long term to take out the other players first is just poor sportsmanship in my opinion.

Nah, I’m a lone wolf.

Well, this game at least.

:man_shrugging: You are entitled to your opinion, especially when I didn’t ask you for one.

Shame.

I don’t believe it is required for me to request your permission to give my opinion.

I worded that poorly, I meant that I didn’t ask you for an alliance, so it makes sense that you’d be against it.

Oh okay, I see what you meant.

Though to be clear, I’m against alliances regardless. And interestingly enough, never had any players try it before now.

I don’t see what makes them problematic to be honest. I haven’t played many of these games, but in things like Survivor/Big Brother/VLDR (other everyone for themselves) games they are common and just part of the strategic game, so why not here?

I’m not sure about those other games. I think the problem with games like Coup are that alliances more easily dominate. I mean, I suppose you could get alliance against alliance. But once you start down that path, it kind of messes with the games everyone plays together. Usually I think of it more from the outside perspective on what happens when you play game after game. And pretty much all the players I’ve played with have the same feeling.
