Hard disagree
The punishment is a reaction to him readily and knowledgably breaking the rules of the forums due to a history of poor performances in a variety of different settings
I’m not going to say you have to 2000 post in every game that you’re in, but if you’re going to signup for something, you are signing up with the expectation that you are going to play to the best of your ability, as it is a game for fun, and by not playing, not only would one be ruining their own fun, but also negatively affecting the enjoyment of others.
Personally speaking, I enjoy seeing the things I create to come to life. So, if my choices were between someone who has a history of not playing their character to their full potential despite multiple warnings, pushes, pieces of advice, and ample time to adjust, or a new player who has shown great amounts of interest in the game, I would naturally go with the latter.
This isn’t me saying that gorta is irredeemable or anything like that
I think the dude just has different priorities than most of us, and FM is, in the end, something for fun for him, just like it is for the rest of us.
Maybe the ban length was on the more extreme side, or maybe it wasn’t. I firmly believe that actions that are against the rules should be punished, even if I can see where the frustration and intent comes from.
I get that, but I would still like the chance to play and if I don’t live up to the expectations. I would rather be forcibly subbed out, yet have a chance than not have a chance at all. That chance means all the world to me and usually if I fight hard for a chance I’ll play to the best of my ability
I asked for a chance to be active and if I wasn’t active enough I would accept being subbed out
I do deserve some kind of punishment though
I’m hoping some more positive dialogue comes from this though instead of just the “haha treeman” status quo. I don’t mind the tree jokes, but the slanking stereotype needs to die. I’m trying to improve and I wish others would try to give me more shots
while i agree that punishment for breaking a rule is natural, the overall heavy handedness of this punishment is something i simply cannot agree with
as someone who was legitimately bullied in another community for being seen as inactive
i understand the reasoning for what happened and i would honestly be lying if i said that that wasn’t something i had considered at one time
while i’m not going to justify the rulebreak i think gorta’s request to consider him as a player fairly is reasonable, and hammering in the point that he’s slanked in the past and making a joke out of it is needlessly harmful
i think the difficult part is deciding when enough is enough, or rather how many times someone has to slank or display some other level of inactivity detrimental to the game before they should be WoTM’ed out from games
in a way it’s a flawed system anyway, because there is no possibility of being able to prove they can play the game if they aren’t allowed to play the game, and so it becomes a cycle and there’s no real way to get out of it
but how many chances should someone be given before enough is enough? how should people be able to prove they can be active without putting the health of the game at risk? these are the questions moderation needs to answer among themselves
without fixed answers to these questions bias is likely to become rampant and can lead to excessive punishment without any way of knowing what is excessive and what isn’t
just for clarity’s sake, Wisdom of the Mod decisions are made by game hosts, not by the mod team (unless a mod is the game host)
yeah i mainly meant the punishment part for the mods
and also bans for slanking etc
6 months is very long
3 months alt ban is insult to injury that’s unnessecary
Idk what they were thinking with this judgement
I don’t think the mods yet understand that blacklisting people on things that don’t actually prevent the offence is nowhere near as effective as if they were to actually prevent the offence
The alt ban was illogical, if anything it’s literally negative utility
This will make gorta MORE INCLINED to create illegal alts when he’s unbanned because he can’t create legal ones
Who is responsible for this decision? lmao
weh
idk
my entire opinion on this is: lower signup ban and higher blacklist from making alts
I don’t ever want to have to make an alt to play games I want to play, just so I don’t get treated like this
idk how it works but people are able to uhhh?
wait a certain period of time and talk to a mod to get unbanned or is that not a thing
