The only feasible pattern I see is as I said earlier… 1, 2, 3, 2, 1.
By this I mean each colour that we used in a sequence can represent a number.

So far our pattern is…
White, Red, Blue

I assign white to 1, red to 2, blue to 3 and black to 4.

I think if we want to follow this pattern as we should then it might be red, then white.

I highly doubt it is just black being incorrect as that is far too easy.
It would mean that I basically gave away the correct answer by choosing black second.

Jane went with Blue.

So, Blue 1 is fine. Black 2 was bad.
White 1, Red 2, Blue 3 are good so far.
