There are a lot of reasons why there wouldn’t be a second night kill, including me being assassin or NK. But yes, in case of cult there wouldn’t be a second kill at all.

Usualy if the game is titlted towards one thing, it’s truth. It comes from subconcious directing the game by people who know it (evils, investigatives etc.).

NK could hit MM
Assassin could hit NK
Other immune neutrals could be attacked.

a) You said you failed to perform your action, from which only investigatives BD would know.
b) You said you targeted king, from which only investigative BD which can do it is observer
