I don’t know if I’m just experiencing the meta differently than what some of the above mentions.
I find most players don’t whisper because the meta is bound in public claiming. Public claiming grants the benefit for invests to check certain people they might find suspicious based on their claimed actions and supports know who are more likely to be attacked.
However I do see whispers in most games. Most of the time it’s people whispering neutral claims in an attempt to use their abilities for their faction’s benefit. But it could as well be invests/supports whispering king/prince to either report their logs/findings or to coordinate their heals.
Some people also whisper around to confirmed claims to share their perception of suspicious claims.
I disagree that whispers are completely non-existent in the current meta. And IIRC the MM only has 2 birds? So the MM needs a really good fortuneteller to know when it matters and activate it ahead of time.
Again I don’t believe most people are not whispering because they fear the MM listening in. I think the public claim meta is what keeps most players posting publicly and not resort to whispers.
CW: Great changes overall. This should make CW a lot more useful.
Obs spawn rate: Good. He’s not OP anymore anyway.
Chrono DR no longer on King: Solid.
MM losing Little Bird: I will personally shame literally everyone who tries to go back to Whisper King meta.
Sorc Escape Fate: Good change, but I still think dead bombs kinda suck. I doubt there’s a way we could get a third day ability in there to be able to swap a bomb and place one? Idk, Sorc’s the hardest NK to win as it is, even with a free day of escape fate, there’s a good chance you’ll just be occupied at night anyway. Maybe Escape Fate can be an ultimate cooldown, like also make you immune to occupation, redirection, and your bomb explosions also pierce healing for that night? I know that sounds like a lot, but I feel like a single heal or occupy will foil your plans if you don’t kill everyone that night. TL;DR: Good change, but I still think Sorc will lose a lot.
Reaper CoD -1 soul: Good change, now the total cost is 2 souls down from 3. Still kinda expensive though and idk if getting occupied wastes your souls or not (it shouldn’t if it currently does).
Reaper CoD on any target: Good.
SS Divert: Oh my god what an ingenious change. This effectively makes SS like the “Witch” from Town of Salem which can greatly help the SS figure out who is a killer and potentially ally with them. Also taking Drunk down a notch is a massive boon since Drunk is so good for BD and them being less confirmable is great.
Inq can’t target starting King: Good.
Heretics can only be BD players: Yeah I’m good with that. I wouldn’t mind if another Neut could also be a heretic. This effectively does lock Inq into an “Evil” Neut like SS, Fool, and Scorned, which I’m fine with though.
Merc is unique: Good, good.
Merc needs an extra Brilder to win: Mmn less good, but I think it’s fine.
There have been tons of changes since then - the king is less valuable. If people decide to be douchey and go back to whisper meta, we’ll patch it out. Pretty simple.
If only evils can whisper, and there is a neutral / BD ability that can see whispers but not see who sent them / who they were sent to, it might create some interesting interactions.
• Fixed spam when becoming Occupy Immune.
• Fixed Cult Leader Eradicate being unable to target king as second target.
• Fixed Cult Sacrifice menu not being able to open again.
• Fixed heals (both Alch and Phys).
• Possibly fixed Inquisitor having two heretics.
• Fixed Merc feedback showing %X%.
• Fixed some abilities triggering twice (reported as Sellsword double feedback).
• Fixed emote exploits.
• Fixed End Game chat functions.
• Updated some class cards.
• Possibly fixed Elected King showing us their previous class for Evils.
• Host may now lose their host status when they have 300+ms ping (was previously set to 150+ms).
I don’t think icy veins is necessary. We already have 2(potentially 3 with king) support classes focusing on saving someone from death. Here’s a possible fix: Intensify will make it so your target may not receive any incorrect feedback tonight. Also, the name could use some work, but idk what it should be changed to.
nothing to say here, great change.
I think that this is fine for starter kings, however elected kings have a much higher chance of being evil and are easier to detect. Plus this means that there is now only one BD class which could potentially kill the king.
This is good, however I do think that there should be another unseen class with a whisper reading ability. Maybe observer?
Question: Does this also prevent the sorcerer from being voted up for the rest of the day? Because if not then it would be pretty weak late game
I think bomb swap should remain, just merge it with the main bombing ability. So it would be: Place a bomb on a new target or swap a bomb off an old target.
Escape fate should be able to be used during other trials so you could frame other people.
Nothing to say here. It was too costly before.
Again, nothing to say here either.
This change is good for sellsword, however it makes butler a bit more confirmable. My suggestion would be to add a new neutral offensive class, Witch(Not sure if the name could use some work), which has an unlimited use tornado and the old intimade. If balance would be a concern then just make it so only one of SS/Witch could spawn in a game
Good change.
I’m not a fan of this. Neutrals should be more neutral than leaning towards a certain faction(SS works because there is only one of them, and mercenary works as a potential counter). We already have one scum-sided neutral so an additional one is too much, especially since it’s basically a mini-NK. Neutrals with a killing ability especially shouldn’t be leaning towards one faction.
Being a Cult/Unseen heretic didn’t not feel good, especially for Unseen – because starting Assassin is extremely important to the faction due to the Apprentice abil passive.
Just change it so an inquisitor can’t have a starting assassin as a heretic then. I don’t see how being a heretic is a problem for the cult either.
That could be fixed by changing the inquisitor’s win condition to “Cause the death of 3 heretics”. So voting would work as well(but only if they vote execute)
I agree that neutrals open claiming is a problem, however that could be fixed by making neutrals more chaotic(aka anti-everyone, like NKs) instead of leaning towards a certain faction.
Good changes, 6 was too easy to win.
Good change. Maybe you could make it so the fool could chose their revenge? Like choosing between one day of trials, killing one person(like hunter), etc.
Overall it’s a good patch. I don’t have too many complaints.
