A rhythmic thumping echoed throughout the stands as the stadium of monsters cried out for blood. The demigods huffed and puffed, the toxic air of Tartarus invading their lungs as their minds started to strain. Nervous, paranoid eyes started to dart around to each of their friends, watching, wonderingā¦ āIs this a Titan? No, noā¦ They couldnāt beā¦ā
All of the sudden, one of the apparently more paranoid demigods pointed a finger. āWe all know youāre a Titan! Come on, guys. Unless youāre all Titans, tooā¦ā Many of the demigods shuffled nervously at the obvious McCarthyism. But, still, tensions were high, and they knew they werenāt a Titanā¦ and better a potential Titan than them. Slowly, more fingers joined the first, accusing the single person.
They shook their head rapidly. āNo, no, no! You guys know me! Weāve gone on adventures together! Weāve been friends for years! Iām not a Titan!ā A wicked grin spread over one of the accuserās face.
āThat sounds exactly like what a Titan would say.ā A blanket of silence fell upon the bakerās dozen.
Eventually, someone else spoke up. āAnd how would you know what a Titan would say?ā This caught the recipient by surprise.
āWell- I- Because-ā They started stuttering, frozen like a deer caught in headlights.
āUh-huh,ā someone else cut them off. āThatās what we thought. Easy does it, Titan. You know you canāt beat us allā¦ā
āIām not a Titan!ā They protested. āWeāve travelled together for years, canāt you-ā
āIsnāt that just what you said a Titan would say? Give it up.ā More and more jeers overcame rationality, as more and more confirmation bias cycled into itself, feeding the paranoia like fuel on an open flame.
They were slowly surrounded and brought to the guillotine in the center of the arena, protesting all the way. Their body was roughly shoved into the chopping block, and multiple hands were pressing them down as the block was locked around their head and arms.
Unbidden, the rope unwound itself just as people were starting to have second thoughts. The blade sailed down, carving through the toxic atmosphere, splitting clean through the prisonerās neck, the body quickly disappearing.
āHow unfortunateā¦ā Tartarusā voice boomed through the speaker as the monsters in the stands quickly became quiet. Tartarus let the silence stretch on for a few moments. The demigods felt their hopes riseā¦ āI wouldāve thought you would recognize a friendly face like that.ā

The demigods awoke from a fitful sleep, impatient and wishing to get out of the Pit as soon as possible. The screams of their friend that they had killed the day before echoed in their heads. However, despite their attempts at democracy, it appeared the Titans were not playing fair.
As the group gathered in the center of the arena, they noticed that an additional one of their number was missing.
