Prince is Useless

The reason in tos jailor is existed is because king didn’t, the main reason was to get claims, but since all everyone does is claim to king or mystic there is really no point, the only good thing about it is I guess if you know two people are evil then you could just jail 1 and exe the other, but that’s about it he is completely useless.
I know this maybe a quite controversial opinion but I believe it’s true.

Whisper King meta wasn’t always a thing, but even though it is prevalent now the Prince still has a very important role to play. His guaranteed occupation can find out killers if no one dies or keep outed ones from hurting people. His executions deter false accusations, since the prince can just jail the accuser if they were wrong, and make neutrals much less safe as a fake claim. If he makes it to late game he can easily coordinate BD to solve the game with no chance for evils.

I feel that Prince is far from useless. As an aside, I wonder if Boslof has any metrics for win rates based on how early the Prince dies.

but since you can’t jail in the last 5 seconds anymore if someone is wrongly exed you have no chance to jail them

That was changed recently: there’s an extra 20 seconds after a guilty trial, which should give plenty of time to change targets.

Prince’s Job is mainly blocking and killing evils.

In bonus you may know their claim due to fact you’re confimed Good.

King is never confirmed good at the start of match either way claiming to him is risky. That’s the problem but it isn’t applied to Prince.

Besides Jailor-Type class is Overpowered and seeing somebody is saying he’s “useless” is laughable at most.

You forgot the fact king has 35% chance to be evil.He can easily give this claims to unseen/cult and he can help them.

Then by all means advocate for jail to revert to being able to change within the last 5 seconds instead of scrapping the whole class.

For example, when Mind control (like a noble force vote) came in for the possessor, you couldn’t use it at the start of the day, I suggested you make it so you are able to use it before everyone else can vote, thus making possessor mostly auto-win if day starts with 3 players.

indeed, a self-confirming anonymous neighbouriser rolestopper 3-shot remorseful strongman vig is a weak role

Rolestopper? The Prince is more of a jailkeeper as it also prevents anyone from using their night action on their target.

rolestopper stops all actions targeting a player = visit prevention
jaikeeper just doctors and occupiers a player at the same time

the tradiational definiton of jailkeeper has them block a single attack and not all viists but it’s exceedingly common for that element to be a rolestopper
strictly this should be called an Alien but who really gives a shit about standardised role terminology

excuse me what the fuck

Technically a rolestopper and roleblocker at the same time aside from being an automatically confirmed anonymous neighbourizing strongman vigilante, but I digress.

Either way, Prince essentially works as a shit-ton of power roles mashed up together in one while also being guaranteed and unique. I’m actually quite surprised BD’s win-rate is only at 50% when they have such a strong class at their disposal.

as somebody who has personally convinced a BD to lynch a confirmed mystic
anything is possible

Indeed. The best thing about playing turbo is trying to see how much bullshit you can pull and still get away with it.

Mayor

no but objectively Prince is the strongest BD class because they can use 5 power roles all at once with almost no downsides

Technically he has the downside of not being able to use one but not the others

lets compare this to ToS, since you did already

ToS has mayor that can spawn, meaning already 1 confirmed Town
also Jailor spawns guaranteed, so thats already 2 confirmed, if mayor spawns
also no conversions, meaning if you’re confirmed and there are no vampires, your confirmed permanently

now lets look at ToL:
ToL has a king that spawns, meaning there always is a king, but it can be either good/evil. 65% good, 35% evil.
Prince spawns guaranteed, so thats 1 confirmed
there are conversions, meaning there is no such thing as “confirmed” (unless your Prince)

Plus, in ToS, there are only up to Powerful attacks in the base game, meaning if a Doctor stays on the Jailor, its GG, unless Arsonist.

In ToL, is a Physician stays on the Prince, heres what can bypass it:
Reaper’s Reap
Enforcer’s Frenzy with assassinate
Possessor’s Possess
any Killer class Empowered by CW
and more(maybe i forgot some)

plus Whisper meta is worse, since Noble, Possessor, Aristocrat, or Apostle can see your/the court’s whispers, meaning tons of info for scum.

and prince meta is a joke if you are Possessor or Reaper

sorry about the rant, but i had a lot to say about this

Actually this is one of the few things that ToS has an answer for. Specifically the Blackmailer
