Real Life "Mafia/Werewolf" game -- anyone played it?

This is one of those games that I personally always wanted to play, but never could gather enough people to do it. Anyone ever play this – the original “real life” mafia/werewolf party game?

I’ve never played any kind of Mafia game irl. I played some SC2 Mafia, but way more Town of Salem. It’s always been something I’ve been interested in doing, but I don’t have enough friends who share those kinds of interests.

There are nerdy events where a lot of people play. I went to Dragon Con last weekend and each year there’s a huge werewolf circle of like 20 players each night, and that’s about the only time I get to play werewolf every year. Maybe go to an event like that or a local boardgame shop. Those usually have a weekly schedule of free play nights.

Problem is, I doubt I’d be comfortable playing with random people, even if they do have similar interests to me. I wouldn’t say I’m awful at face-to-face interactions with people I’m not already comfortable with, I just prefer to avoid it when possible. Same with big groups of people. It just makes me feel awkward.

I completely understand that feeling. Having Throne of Lies as an online game will give you fun without having to deal with random people

During college, we had a group that ranged from 5-30 people all playing Mafia. Was super fun and I miss it

EDIT: Whoops, sorry for the necro

It’s ok, TurdPile! We like keeping discussion going, especially at such an early stage of our community growing

Wow, that’s a lot of people! I miss college for all the gaming possibilities.

Thanks for joining us, btw!

I recall playing murder game that relies on lightning matches/drawing straws with only one killer in circle of +5 people, everyone can stay awake except they will die when the killer ‘blinked’ directly yet discreetly when others are not watching, pointing out the murder during the ‘discussion’ stage.

I miss summer camp days.

ALSO, yes I own a copy of The Werewolves of Millers Hollow / Wolven van Wakkerdam by 999 games, a dutch tabletop game producer, unfortunately I didn’t manage to hold group with my work-co’s for long.

Yeah that sounds fun. There’s really something special about these types of games. I can’t wait to be playing Throne of Lies with all of you soon!

I have never played any real life Mafia/Werewolf game, but my favourite game is Town of Salem (despite some big flaws in the design). The concept is really cool, it’s not quite like any other type of game.

Also, this is off-topic, but I just found this game through a TOS forums post and joined these forums yesterday, and so far, this game seems really cool. I can’t wait to see more.

I play Werewolf at school with friends at recess or after school. We usually only have time to play one game, but we have fun.

The closest to real-life playing I have done was play it on Tabletop Simulator. A friend and I made a Mafia card game. Easy to play.

I’ve never actually played mafia in real life. Probably because I have no friends

Who needs friends when you have the Internet? Its a solid tradeoff.
