I’m ignoring the decoy and going with swords as well. My first impressions from Insanity, Shurian, and PKR were meh. Merc does seem to have townie motivation as well based on this post.

After asking about it, I have learned that the decoy can be the actual weapon.

that makes no sense whatsoever

Likelihood is that Deliv chose either Swords/Axes. They have no reason to choose Lances.

After some thought (since Deliv is extremely unlikely to DL instead of converting), swords is by far the best choice.
