I highly suggest Arena. You’ll be paying a lot less or free if you’re more casual.

commander is really fun, but depending on the deck can be way more expensive since you need a lot of different cards, and thats what stopped me from playing commander irl for a while

Yeah standard 40 minimum is considered default but most people play commander. Commander is a newer format; im an older generation MTG player. Got into it with Oddessey/Prophecy/Torment as you can see from my icon lol.
