[SFoL] SFoL 53: Looming Threat - Completed

Filthy self meta

Self meta is Good when used right

Bad when used wrong.

I’m not going to spell it out for you because I don’t want to be subjected to the anti-claim penalty, no matter how it manifests.

Stop

Nein, tis never good.
The only time it is useful is when self meta doesn’t matter in reading a person.
And even then it can be faked.

In fact, I can say I lurk as town when I’m scum!

Everyone do be quiet. Get away from maxwell.

1 Why isnt it Good

  1. I can provide proof if you want

Vulgard, no.

Because self meta is what one views themselves.
It can be anything and everything.

For eg, if I tell you I blurt everything out without thinking as town, is that really my meta?
We don’t know and we shouldn’t be locking people because
“HEY TOWN META, WORTH LISTENING”

Actually this conversation goes nowhere besides education. I’ll leave it to the more experienced players to do that, I’m not that well versed in mafia yet to give coherent arguments all the time heh

Geyde:

Geyde keeps prodding people for content very early on, unnecessarily harping on the fact Jgoes’ posts have not been the most meaningful. In fact, this attack feels artificial in and of itself - like he is trying to appear solvey and ready to push people from the start. His posts read to me as ‘I’m trying to look relaxed but the truth is, I’m only attempting to have a good start and look town.’ His posts do not sound like they come from town - he seems rigid, like he is trying his best to pretend. There is no towny feeling of relaxation there.

As a side note, Geyde’s early pressure on Jgoes reeks of distancing - but I would rather not go deeper into that read until we flip Geyde.

I attempted to reevaluate Geyde on D2, but his posts have not changed whatsoever. If he were town, I should have been able to flip my read already. But I can’t possibly flip the read. Geyde is just scum taking advantage of relatively low pressure on him, trying to push agendas that suit the scumteam. Unfortunately for Geyde, Arete has been caught and Maxwell was also suspected - leading to a situation where Geyde’s ‘strong start’ is utterly meaningless. He is not in the position to lead the thread anywhere now, which makes him look isolated and frozen.

I can hardly consider Geyde’s overall contribution town-motivated. In fact, he has been quite similar to Arete. However, he is more focused on giving off the impression of being exploratory. ‘Yes, I totally scumread Arete. Yes, I will totally come back to Maxwell.’ But it is failing, because the team has not been doing so well. And right now, he is probably wondering what angle of attack he should take. He did attempt to discredit me already by not reading one of my posts and trying to prevent me from clearing a potential mislynch.

(This is where my bookmarked interaction from Italy comes into play.) I put forward the strong townread on Italy and Geyde immediately attempted to make me reconsider. This is not town-indicative. He did not even provide a voice of his own - he discredited my read and moved on.

Not only that, but my question about his ‘very broad PoE, similar to Luxy’s’ must have taken him off-guard. His responses in our interaction scream to me that he was panicking and giving me half-baked responses. ‘Oh, my PoE is so big. Oh, uh, it’s almost exactly like Luxy’s. Yeah. Because Luxy flipped Prince and sharing his reads won’t make me scummy. I don’t have genuine reads of my own, so please buy my little story.’

Overall, I am unable to believe Geyde could possibly be town here based on all of that. There is too much evidence against him for that to be the case.

Tldr:

People can lie. That’s a WIFOM. Nothing good comes from trying to figure out what thing does.

Mafia concepts, not argument*

Only I know what Luxy’s reads are >_>

I think I’m done. Let’s run train on Arete/Maxwell/Geyde and go from there.

No you actually need to prove your meta unless it is already known to everyone And you mention it

I said that it can be Good when used right this wouldnt be right usage of it Thats like saying all reads are bad because I can Use false reasoning for it

You Let them prove it

Unless you want me to explain my townreads. I’m ready to do that as well.

People can lie about reads

You are saying My Defense is bad

Hi guys, I haven’t played in about 7 months. I’m actually still playing the same playstyle…

Proving meta is just really harmful to making reads in the long term imo.

Hja and Shurian, you are both town this match. Please stop fighting each other and lynch the true scum.
