[SFoL] SFoL 55: Old Ruins FoL - Completed (3/16)

I still think Marshal is a baddie, Tele makes me paranoid every time she posts, Arete is probably an evil king and not cowardly, Jake/Derps might contain scum but I’m not completely sold.
Also Luxy pings me the wrong way but he might still be able to townclear himself if he’s given time.
Priestess might be town? The jury is still out on that one. I don’t think she has any strong associations but lolpreflipassociations.

Squid probably town. Soul is in the ? category. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was lurking scum but there’s no evidence for it.

Aka see Priestess with her Solic is scum, but I’m not going to say why because I’m so whimsical and mysterious hihi. :eyes:

Honest answer, I don’t think I can explain my reads very well and after Looming Threat I dread to cry because I’m just going to confbias myself into thinking the way I do.
I want to stay open.

That’s just a summary of your gut on more players than SDA… Give me evidence, logic behind it.

I’ve actually already said why Marshal/Arete/Luxy might be evil. Should I quote that?

Nah, because this time there are players alive that will stop you aka me, so go ahead.

I’d rather revisit why you think SDA/Jake are town.

With Tele it’s that she was initially really scummy to me but she has been steadily improving. The ‘steadily improving’ is something that would normally make me townread her but I’m paranoid I’m misclearing her after correctly interpreting her first post. Basically this read is rooted more in paranoia than anything she has done after her initial few posts.

I’ve actually said this too.

The Arete/Luxy part might be me confbiasing myself, but the way Derps and Jake are acting doesn’t sit right with me. They might be acting that way because it’s working, but it’s not like anyone was townreading them for it until I wrote that post and Tele began to change their mind, so…

They are:

  • not lolcatting
  • not flailing
  • not panicking (unless you interpret Derps’ initial pause as panic but that’s a bit of a stretch to me)
  • just kinda rolling with what happened

Maybe I’m unnecessarily finding reasons to defend them but it just… doesn’t feel right. Also the fact everyone jumped on the suspicion so readily.

I know it’s a little silly to clear someone for a reason like that, and I’m still open to them being evil (one or both)… it’s just a weird situation. Once the ‘scumslip’ happened, the thread completely changed direction. I suppose that’s not suspicious by itself though…

…aaaAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH.

Can you ISO derps for me please? This is still way too much “gut” for me. The fact that they didn’t immediately concede is a very crappy reason to clear someone…

This again doesn’t mean anything if at most we have 2 groupscum.

A lot of NAI posts at the start. A bit of hypocrisy there, and I know I’m hypocritical as scum, but I don’t know if Derps is.

im pretty sure my class old af
lets all claim sounds good yeah, worked well last SFoL

…Defending the King? This one’s interesting. He doesn’t even really have an argument but I guess that’s consistent with how he played as town in LotR and LT.

Yeah, and he still defended them.

First called Solic lockscum and then locktown. It… I know this is a joke, but it doesn’t really feel like he’s trying to solve Solic’s alignment at all and that’s pretty antitown.

But then he says ‘for now, I wouldn’t lynch you.’ So… in the end he has no idea about Solic’s alignment? Lockscum->locktown->‘i wouldn’t lynch but i reserve my judgment’

It feels weird. Also, he meant ‘converts.’

Anyway.

So he doesn’t like Kyo but then says he is just throwing shade. …Another hedge? What is this?

Okay, so not 100% hedge…?

Where did Marshal come from? I suppose he is agreeing with thread consensus here.

So I’ve noticed. :eyes:

He did try on that one, kinda. Town points…?

You know, I like what Derps is doing here. He is genuinely trying to read people and figure out their alignment. It makes me think he was just unsure before and not hedging because he is scum.

He has been trying to read a lot of people.
The problem is that I’ve seen him performative as scum in Clash of Cults, so this might actually be scum AI. I would like to see him actually focus on one person instead of jumping between several without reaching strong conclusions.

I… guess that’s a conclusion? But it’s in line with consensus of the thread and isn’t anything new. He just kinda… accepts this.

He also instantly accepts the idea Jake is scum because of the Electromancer claim.

He is actually strongly pushing Jake here…

…And then this comes into play. Now that I re-read the progression… it’s actually extremely scummy. It’s actually in line with what he has been doing in the thread prior to that if they were both scum. First he agrees with the scumreads on Jake, then pushes him, then thinks that bussing him might be good and intends to ask Jake about it in scumchat… but does that in the thread instead.

Hhh. This actually looks like a legitimate scumslip upon re-reading.

I do think this feels really awkward.

NANI?
What is this.

Uh… this is once again not a very unique thing to say. It’s in line with the consensus. Besides, if they were both scum, Derps could just have asked Jake not to freak out just to use this argument.
Nghhh.

How would that:

Even help?

And he can’t explain the townread or what he was hoping to accomplish.

Ugh. So… no conclusions from the reactiontest other than Jake town because… he didn’t panic?
Why would Jake ever panic if Derps was town? He knows Derps isn’t telling the truth. He should be relaxed in that case. Or he could hardpush Derps for lying and falsely associating him with groupscum. He shouldn’t ever panic. And the fact Derps cannot explain this feels like a half-baked excuse and coverup.

…I think I’ve changed my mind. We need to flip Derps one way or another.

I still don’t like the way I made this ISO though, because it’s not in line with the reading style I want to try and it has failed me before…
…Ngh. Weh. At least you know my thoughts now.

Yea, that’s entirely a different conclusion than I am drawing… hmm :eyes:

See, this is exactly the reason why I didn’t want to do this. I’m really paranoid of misclearing someone because I get more elaborate with my reads and convince myself into wrongly changing my mind or tunneling a town.

If you ask for a lowly Inq’s opinion, Derp’s progression on Jake is janky

But I feel like that doesn’t necessarily make him scum, just town that can’t word how they’re piecing things together
