I could not see that Arete knew you were the Executioner, because regardless of alignment, I only care about those who talked with me. Reading another player interact with people is something I do when I am super-duper bored. Plus, I am not a “backreader”, so… I am really, really flawed as a human being.

I really had to say so, because my brain does not work as good as yours when it comes to spotting subtle hints. This is the reason why I also suck at finding softclaims. I pray that your brain has had a better history and will have a better future than mine.
