i’m 100% positive that a first-timer in real-time mafia or even forum mafia has questioned why they can’t choose their alignment pregame
in FoL 1 my first FM game i didn’t understand how roles worked and tried to do every observer single action (track, watch, littlebird) in one night and was super confused when i was told thats not how it works lol. fm confusing.
I had to deal with a guy that said “I’m a righteous man and I will expose the crimes of the mafia” as the fucking godfather
this person was like 4th grade of course
it also means you can blame the rand for every bad thing that happens to you
and some people pray to get nightkilled

the only good soft i’ve seen was marshal
that man went like “M E T A”
then said that was a medium soft
the idea is that you can’t bullshit a claim if you didn’t soft it earlier
you’re forcing yourself into a claim and that’s pro-town because town most likely won’t fake it anyway
the problem is that it doesn’t work on good wolves but in general it’s not terrible
I’m pretty sure I voiced the exact opposite opinion somewhere on these forums about a month ago, but I’ve changed my mind since.
its only useful if you do it d1 and then claim d5. when everyone goes “wow thats a super convenient claim” you can say “nah, i softed it d1 get fucked”.
normally everyone softs incredibly obviously and badly cuz it makes u seem smart and important.

and within the context of these forums, you could say that people coming and going are basically replacements
i normally scumread softs cuz some people (PKR especially) LOVE softing as mafia lol
I think softs can be done in a useful manner that might potentially clear/confirm you later on but what do I know.
