They will, once buffed bewilder is implemented. At least, in a lobby of experienced players.
Just like how people buy your Obs logs that say you have been occupied the whole time or how people care when you claim that the telepathy message accusing you is an Illusionist.
The cases are not comparable. How is that an analogy? Besides, Iâve seen people refuse to believe my telepathy as Illusionist before.
Just because a valid defence exists doesnât mean it can get people to buy your claims. Thatâs my point.
The only one which is common enough to actually work as a defence is the scorned.
Scorned is in like what, half of games? Bewilder will be in every game. It will be a stronger defense than Scorned.
Bewilder is in any game with an Invoker. Thatâs not every game.
I guess it MIGHT be enough games but I kinda doubt it.
Not really, itâs almost always Ritualists and Seekers that get converted
Itâs proposed that Bewilder be an ability of the Unseen too. And it doesnât even need to be in every game, just have a reasonable chance of being used (like Scorned frame).
This could also be a snoop replacement instead: Transcript(2 uses) - reveal all whispers to and from your target. Can work on the dead.
This should just allow you to edit your targetâs logs instead.
Change this so it removes a target instead, and give it unlimited uses.
This should make your chat anonymous for the rest of the day(it would be toggleable), and give it unlimited uses. This would make it so psychicâs canât waste uses of it.
Rename this to conduit. Change this so it just adds your target to the network(this is because players wouldnât be likely to claim if there are other players listening). Remove the network limit(or at least say why it should have one). Also remove the cooldown. This makes it very slow for the psychic to gather claims(N1: add a player. N2: nothing. N3: remove a player. N4: nothing. N5: add a player). I know that itâs for apostle, but they will already be suspicious when they havenât added a player. And they could just change their claim if they havenât been jailed. Even if they have, this will force the prince to reveal themselves.
Illusionist shouldnât have this. People wonât be likely to claim if they could be converted. Replace this with hypnotize(select a false night feedback result for your target to receive)
Maybe it could work as a nightshade wine replacement for butler. Nightshade wine doesnât fit with the rest of butlerâs abilities anyways, and bewilder does.
You say that other people being there is a flaw and then you do nothing to fix it with any of your suggestions.
So that at any given moment (not counting end game) most people will always be outside of the network. Itâs designed to be a small group not additional day chat time with a (pointlessly) Anonymous member.
This Psychic rework is Not designed to gather claims effectively. She is designed to coordinate a group of players. Usually ones who already trust each other for whatever reason (or at least pretend to).
Not if you have claimed to the network (which you likely have due to the fact that you should be linking trustworthy players unlike the current Psychic who tries to link untrustworthy players for interagation).
Other people being there is not a flaw, adding people slowly is. And I did suggest changes, removing the cooldown and changing focus link so it just removes a player would fix that.
But it still adds people to slowly. At the very least remove the cooldown, change alter link so it just adds a player, change focus link so it removes a player, and give focus link unlimited uses.
But they will still find you suspicious if you havenât linked anyone. And they will be unlikely to give you information if you could be converted.
Itâs conversion speed. The Cult and Unseen add members fast enough, donât they? If it was 1 per night, people would be added at a breckneak speed.
Thatâs part of the reason there is a cool down. And even if the Psychic isnât trustworthy, you can still coordinate with the other linked players.
But theyâre completely different powers. Their only similarities are that they both give their targets a new night chat.
Itâs also why there shouldnât be one though.
Exactly. You could just say that you have just been coordinating rather than adding new players.
They are quite similar in the night chat respect. It just doesnât change the alignment,
How?
Because having a cooldown just gives you more time. Not having one makes it easier to expand the network. With your version, it would take 8 nights to complete the network, more if someone dies.
Thatâs what focus link is for.
Maybe it could work as a nightshade wine replacement for butler. Nightshade wine doesnât fit with the rest of butlerâs abilities anyways, and bewilder does.
But Nightshade wine is a fun addition to a relatively boring class, and makes the Butler feel powerful. My last Psycho King game I killed the Butler first because this lowly class was my greatest enemy. At the very least, poisoning the King fits the Butlerâs lore. I think Assassinâs distract should be replaced with Bewilder.
Hereâs an idea:
Make reveal transcripts into a night ability:
Reveal Transcripts(1 or 2 use) - Reveal all whispers to and from your target. Can target the king and the dead.
It should at least have more uses then. 3 or 4 would be good.
Butler is offensive though, not killer. Nightshade wine should be given to another class, maybe knight instead. And balance > lore.

I agree that lore alone is not a justification, but the class type argument is also weak and fun is the most important thing. I think being able to kill the King is a really fun ability for Butler (Knight already has a killing ability). Fitting with the lore is just a bonus.
