I claimed a fake check on someone as town vanilla once and it worked very effectively
nobody knew I was VT till the end of the game lol
except maybe the 3p who knew I was fake claiming on the last day

i’ve only seen it work once and it was when a guy faked a redcheck on a godfather
every other time it went to shit and was -ev
like i genuinely dont understand what is gained from faking redcheck on a random guy
analyzing stuff like this has too many layers on tinfoil since you don’t know who is mafia yet and don’t know how mafia will react to the poe he dropped

in my case it worked cause I faked a green check and it drew attention onto me, but I was BP and didn’t die

green check ive seen many times, i used to play turbos our entire thing d1 is around faking greenchecks
but red checks i’ve only seen fail

the only one who outright hardclaimed VT in this game was Marl
and btw, Eevee, I don’t think Marl gamethrew. I think he also knew that people (especially me) wouldn’t look as hard into other slots if he didn’t go down yesterday, because of paranoia and the fear that he would just never get voted out for the rest of the game and still possibly be a wolf.
