the OP just says “standard closed setup” which I assumed meant probably 3 wolves and 12 town, but i guess there’s also room for a 3p.
I have a tendency to go into closed setup games and assume there’s a neut somewhere in them, and it hasn’t really proved more or less helpful tbh. For once I went into this game assuming it didn’t have any neuts in it, but I guess since we don’t know, I could possibly buy your suggestion that Marl’s a neut.

I don’t see much point in being an informed spec until I get tired of making reads. Oftentimes I spec games without announcing them and just follow along and keep up with the thread, like with the Vig10er.
