Axes deal the same amount of damage on Java regardless of type I believe.
Which is equal to a diamond sword.
But with slower cool down.

but take twice as long to charge, so overall they’re bad if they aren’t enough to kill in one chop

why use axes in combat

you can just elytra up and take the shots with the bow it’s hard for them to block

you are a moving target and they are stagnant

and if they also elytra, then it’s a midair elytra battle which is super badass so you win either way
