The driver gets off and opens the door when he sees Richard arriving, wearing a high quality cloak to shield himself from the weather.
To the driver “The forest, please.”
Richard allows you to get on the carriage first, still holding the umbrella.

He attempts a small bow towards Richard and the driver as he enters the carriage, but he almost trips causing him to stumble onto a seat. His cheeks give a small blush.
“Don’t worry, si- Richard! I’m okay, just a bit clumsy.”

Richard’s lips curve upward slightly despite himself.
“No worries. There is no need to bow though, it’s not like we’re the king.”
He says the word ‘king’ with contempt, enough so that you know his feelings about him, at least. He then relaxes in the seat facing opposite you, resting the folded umbrella by his side.
(also richard is slightly less suspicious of you because who’s ever heard of a clumsy pirate?)

Finally being able to take a good look now, Richard seems to study you, still being slightly on edge

“You said that you’re from Crittania, earlier? I must admit that I have never been there before. Could you tell me a little about the place?”

“Crittania is quite a… fascinating kingdom. Although quite small, us commonfolk get along quite nicely. We mostly focus on nature and fine dining.”
Cedar has never been to Crittania, so his knowledge of the land is non-existent. Knowing this, his right hand holding the shovel slightly trembles.
“I work as a gardener and collector for natural ingredients, but our resources can be scarce, so I travel from land to land to find what could be helpful for the kingdom.”

“I see… and is this what you are doing now?”
Richard notices Cedar trembling but attributes it to the cold. He doesn’t help him however, as he asn’t asked for help and is still being cautious around Cedar.

“Yes, I’ve visited some neighboring kingdoms quite often, but the King wanted something new, so I decided to come here.”

Cedar’s voice starts to get a bit shaky realizing that he might be kicked out of the carriage at any minute.
