“Maybe” You feel the terrain changing again to dry “Any other warning or wishes?”
“Can I see? That way I can guide us and it won’t look too unnatural to other people in town”
She put her fingers again at the side of your head. “Sight”.
Suddenly you saw again, but the world seemed so bright you couldn’t keep your eyes open. The air was as if your lungs were breathing a storm, even the natural sounds of wild now feeling too loud for you to hear, almost all sensations on your skin feeling as pain. You could not move a lot back then due to being weak, but now you felt weak.
The mercenary runs throughout the capital, getting jobs wherever she can.
Walking very slowly towards his house he was shaking quite unnaturally as his senses slowly started to kick in. It was an overload to say the least but at least it wouldn’t look too unusual as he didn’t need quite so much guidance, closing his eyes many times to try and at least get over the brightness around him “The light is blinding, following it without looking away is truly difficult” he said in a quiet whisper. At least his door was obvious, the marking on his cheek being the same as the ones on his door in red… Except there was a large slash through to indicate he wasn’t following the rune.
After waiting for a while, Cedar’s jaw has returned to its normal size, but it still aches a bit. He looks around his field of view.
“It seems everyone’s here except for Parn and Marian. Where could those two have run off to?”
She planned on using the hunting knife she still hold to fix the rune, not accepting this disrespect, as she pushed the door. It was open. Did the hunter believe no one would assault or was his leaving unexpected?
The citizens were used to him having to leave on missions perhaps not for as long as a few days but it wasn’t too unusual overall, hunting a target can take a while after all “Ahhh, home at last” he said as he instinctively walked inside, towards the traps he had laid and disabled… Most off them at least so that his guest wouldn’t find herself injured beyond recovery
After sorting out a good path making sure that every area apart from his own room was accessible, he smiled “I’m home!!” Draco shouted as his companions quickly charged at him… At least his wolves did, licking his face happily like a good little dog. His bears though, a lot more of a hulking mass took longer to reach them and eventually gave him a bear hug. They weren’t hungry since their natural hunting instincts had let them find other prey and yet they were starved of attention. Draco clearly was happier than he had been before “It’s fine… Everything is fine now, I’m safe. This nice lady led me home, please do look after her”
She watched as the boy fell to the ground due to the charge and simply left due to the general uncomfort caused by wild animals.Out of the house when closing the door and making sure she wasn’t immediatly followed, she cut herself again with the knife to complete the cult rune outside the house. Should be unnoticeable enough due to it normally being a background feature for everyone here.
And it should also activate at night.
On the floor he could barely move, overwhelmed by joy. It was good that the lady had left or else he may have broken and said something he’d regret, as long as she wasn’t around she wouldn’t hear right? The whispers may but they’re not that powerful, or so he thought at least “That guy is probably dead… Perhaps he died just after he spoke to me yet if she knew I’d thought that way perhaps things would turn a lot more sour” His house was well guarded normally, yet at this time the basement was fully accessible and he was too distracted to look elsewhere… Perhaps he should guard it better since that is where old bodies were kept
She entered again in the house as the rune was fixed, hiding his hunting knife.
“Can you make them go away.”
“Sure thing” With one whistle the animals moved away back down to the basement, they were respectful for their owner’s space and would do anything he asked “What is it you’d like to do? Or do you just want to have a look around here?” He still was barely able to move around, so it would be free reign of the area as she’d have realised by his still heavy breathing
She simply ignored and walked past the man lying down, seeing which rooms where there and in general examining the space.
The basement - The animal’s main space was absolutely large. His companions didn’t really take up much space at all compared to the area, leaving room for many other things despite how bare it was. There are also some bodies in one corner of the room from everyone he has hunted down and killed, many cultists there along with some assassins
Sitting room - Where he was currently conked out
The kitchen and dining room - A combined area for a nice place to eat, less magnificent than a banqueting hall and yet it was still pretty impressive compared to other peasants
A few guest rooms, plainly designed to allow for his guests -if they can use magic- to design their rooms any way they please. Every room does have a connected bathroom with toilets, showers and sinks, the room colours again customisable
His own bedroom… Not able to be entered since there are clearly multiple traps set up, obviously something secret is in there.
A small study/library filled with notes and different versions of the BD’s code of conduct
Also finally a storage room filled with traps, food for his pets and other simple supplies
She took you quite in the arms, explictly having trouble. She should be weak, after all.
“So your bedroom is there. I’ll lay you down.”
“N…No, don’t take me there, you’ll get hurt. My room is trapped to stop anyone entering except myself” he said, quite concerned
“Just show me where the traps are.”
As he slowly made it to his room with help from the lady, he pointed to the traps by his door “There are these and quite a few inside.”
All according the plan. Very nice. She kept a poker face as if doing an obligation.
“Any wheat and water here? Or simply bread.”
“We have plenty of meat in the kitchen from fresh catches. We don’t just hunt humans, we hunt some animals to make sure we can feed the town. There’s bread, wheat, water… Just think of my house as a less posh version of castle adiart”
