Tiny Buff to Princess Survivability

I think these variants would be preferable to the current version. The amount of uses and its condition as a night ability would not change.

  1. Choose a player. You will discover their exact class type and whether they targeted you or not.
  2. Choose two players. You will know if they targeted you.
  3. Choose two players. You will reveal both players’ class type groups to one another but you will not know. Works like flirt. (Kill/Off,Spec/Inv,Sup/Soc)

Problem with #3 though is that because it’s unique and distinct, it makes Princess more confirmable

Well, I think each Investigative class should have its own niche and provide a different type of information, but the problem is that they just don’t feel as valuable as the Killer/Offensive classes (plus Physician) to BD. The information the classes receive is a) imperfect, as it can be affected by framing/concealment, and b) non-essential, as often the safest and most efficient course of action is to claim publicly or to the Prince/King, then start executing unconfirmed/non-essential claims and using the Drunk/Butler to occupy and check for deaths at night.

You can have a successful game as BD with no Investigative classes, and that would in fact benefit BD greatly as it would eliminate the most common fake claim for neutrals and evils. If Investigative classes are literally more beneficial to their faction by not existing, then there’s definitely a problem there.

Tbh would you rather claim to a princess who whispered you saying they checked you
Or to a sheriff who didn’t even check you

Princess can get a lot of claims

Will I wisp should give you exact class types

Change prince to special
Change will o wisp to exact class type
Add a couple more specials

Bam

The only that would work is if Prince becomes Blue Dragon Special

It makes more sense tbh

wait you’re right,

Prince can

Kill people in jail - Killer
Occupy them - Offensive
Apply visit prevention - Support
And talk to people at night - Social

The problem is that if I’m Prince and a Princess claims to have found me, I am immediately suspicious because it could easily be MM who couldn’t convert me (or knows I can’t be converted).

That’s not a problem.

Foresight would show as that a player is not convertible for Prince, not that they’re Special.

Fair enough, I see no reason why Prince can’t be a Special class type. It sure fits the bill.

This made me think of a class which would have like 5/6 night abilites that are 1 use for being able to sub in for other classes. While other classes can still do it better than them

That might be best as a Neutral Special class? I’ve been discussing with a friend now Neutrals need another Merc/Alch/Inq type (Neutral “Benign” if you will) to counter the “Neuts Out” mentality that encourages to kill all Neutrals just in case (and is often actually effective).

Having a Neutral Special that can perform a wide array of services for BD would definitely help in that regard.

It helps our cause for will o wisp incase you get caught as special type too

We could carry this over to the other thread? Because we’re not talking about Princess survivability anymore

Yeah, with Prince and a Neutral Special type, you could allow the Will o Wisp to just determine exact class type (plus another minor utility).

@Livicus: Fair enough!

what if wisp were changed to “narrow down the ability type used tonight to two”

e.g. if you wisp a phys and he heals someone, you will be told he used a sup/soc ability
same for knight defend, but if knight CS it will say kill/off ability etc

That seems more confusing than useful, since you can think that someone is Support but then they turn out to be an entirely different class type altogether.

That’s just a worse flirt

I think if wisp gave you the exact ability type it would address your concerns. Instead of merely narrowing it down to two.

With this you could wisp a Mastermind using a special ability (convert), proving he isn’t Sheriff. Unless you wisped him on Foresight night (investigative).

If someone claimed Knight and you wisped them using a Killer ability, they would have to claim they used Coldsteel instead of defend.

It’s basically the same as current wisp except better.

Or maybe instead of overcomplicating it you could just make it give the targets exact class type or something at that point.
