I find them nicer than city folk here. I live in the greater New York City area (despite being in NJ) and people can be really rude
i tend to see the farther i get from downtown the nicer the people get.
im not sure why buts its a general trend
Thank you Katze. I am just nervous because its going to be in front of a couple hundred students and we are acting like Congress for a few day. I am representative
I guess this also ties into the whole concept of city life changing people
I remember that there is a concept on how American life at the cities or just in general is very fast paced. This leads to us wanting to take more convenient routes, and leads to things like obesity since that convenience makes us less active physically and more focused on our work. Like eating, driving, and texting all at the same time. Or getting somewhere quick for work. It makes us more eccentric basically
im not sure why
just the difference in normal things like resturaunts people are less obnoxious
We are too busy in trying to keep up with our work and the pace of the city that we forget to look after ourselves and in turn other people
like i have gone to 2 austin chilis
these 2 iirc
the difference was astounding.
The service and other customers were way nicer in the chilis out west vs. the chilis downtown.
Its an interesting theory and could show a side of how work life in the US is turning more and more toxic and competitive. We are seeing a shortage in office and manufacturing jobs in a mix of automation and offshoring, whilst jobs that are being made are tempt, gig, or contract. They carry no benefits, no secure source of income, and ultimately lead to very low paying wages
Along with things like college degrees being inflated as the market gets washed over with a massive wave of unemployed graduates, you begin to see many people who have studied things like biology and engineering or business be resigned to having to work at a McDonalds.
All of these factors make for a very toxic work culture that forces many to focus on themselves. The city life amplifies this since housing cost is astronomically high, taxes are high, and social nets are constantly under pressure
And as stated before, city life is fast paced. This makes for a very bad soup of very bad things xP
Which is why in my opinion I think we need to stimulate the economy by giving more buying power to the bottom 96% of America via a tax on luxury goods. With this new source of income, we can still remain competitive (American prices are typically way lower than European and other market prices), while taking pressure off the middle and lower class. We can also do a type of plan where cities, depending on adult population, will get a certain amount of money that must be diverted to business start ups. We also need to seriously find a way to solve the issue of automation that benefit both the worker and the company
you are getting very close to politics there buddy

I don’t go into politics too much outside of debates. Especially with the current situation. Its very unsavory.
