So basically, the game ends when there is a moment of death. You died while killing Simon, so you don’t win. You need to survive to be recognised not dead.

Death here seems to use a vague measurement of pain to determine life or death. Technically, pain can kill you. Too much pain can cause a circulatory shock, which will eventually kill you as it damages the brain and organs. Death’s method is a bit crude, but he’s the one that makes the rules. You should try adding rules if you don’t like one aspect of the game.
