Six players isnā€™t that ideal, eight is minimum at best.

Itā€™s deliberate. Since itā€™s upick I donā€™t want there to be too meny new roles and thus need to limit the number of people

Not necessarily true, I played The Werewolves of Millerā€™s Hollow and doesnā€™t need that many roles - but hey, your game your rules.

One night ultimate werewolf needs 1 role for everyone plus 3. Most donā€™t have the plus 3.

This game can actually work with only 3 players but requires at least 5 to really shine.

8 is massive for a game like this. The online version has a hard limit of 6 people right now.
