Using school shootings as names

Now, at the start of the game, I saw the names and while they appalled me, I didnt think much of it. That is until our #2 started making awful remarks to our number 7, whose name was Colombine. What he said sent me into an instant rage. Maybe I am off my rocker here, but after what happened in Florida, USA last week has sensitivity levels a little high. And to sit in your video game and have to watch people make fun of these shootings like this disgusts me. I understand there is to be done while they are acting like this, but I think it goes without saying that these 3 people should be perma banned period. Thoughts?

Report this. It is insensitive, and I think grounds for suspension and bans.

I reported 2, 7 and 8. I hope with all my heart the mods do something more than slap them on the wrist. This is the most toxic thing ive ever seen in this game so farā€¦

I donā€™t think there was much said to be offensive, youā€™re on the internet. Iā€™d understand if you were upset about somebody threatening to shoot up a school or something, yeah the Florida school one was over the topā€¦ but cā€™mon man, youā€™re on the internet.

I was ā€˜Columbineā€™ - I was the first to pick my name and didnā€™t expect somebody to get so offended over an incident that happened in 1999. I am sorry if I did offend you, but that was not the intention.

Maybe I donā€™t see this as so offensive since Iā€™m not from the US, but over in the England we speak in pure sarcasm and get our kicks out of crude jokes ĀÆ_(惄)_/ĀÆ

No one I have ever met uses the deaths of children as the butt of jokes. Nobody I have ever has ever made a joke out of the killings that happen in other places of the world. Maybe we are just not that cold, IDK, but your sense of morals and sense of humor is disgusting and I pray you never experience the aftermath of a school shooting personally. YOu mention about it happening in 1999. Guess you think after almost 20 years its ok to make fun of dead childrenā€¦

No, I think 20 years is enough time to get over something and make slightly crude jokes about.

I have no idea where youā€™re from, but I see people from all around the world making jokes about this?

Maybe you should look up Frankie Boyle, then youā€™ll see what British humour really is

This is neither the time nor the place to discuss whether itā€™s right or wrong to make jokes about disasters. Every single person reported will be punished as the moderator handling the report sees fit.

If you think your name is going to offend someone; Just donā€™t do it. Joking around with your friends (whom you know have thick skin) isnā€™t the same thing as shoving it in peopleā€™s face on the internet. For all you know, you could be playing WITH someone from the location of the shooting.

Thereā€™s literally just no reason to do it.

Lets approach this in a way that even YOU might be able to relateā€¦your only child died 20 years agoā€¦some random person blasts you in the face with a crude joke about your kids deathā€¦how much are you going to laugh?

I didnā€™t know it would offend someone like that, I thought people on the internet had thick skin in general. Iā€™ve got over 300 hours on this game and Iā€™ve never seen someone get this upset over something that weā€™re blatantly not serious about?

Iā€™ve not got a child, but speaking from personal experience if it was that long ago - yea I would find it funny. Making light of something is how a lot of people cope with things.

Seek help, and during your ban, dig deep into that moral compass of yours and truly decide if poking fun at dead children is the kind of example you want to set. Nothing funny about school shootings. Period.

Once again; Not the time nor the place for this discussion. If you end up getting banned and want to appeal to a moderator you can do it privately.

And you knew what you were doing could be deemed offensive when you did it, donā€™t even try to argue that.

Sorry if this isnt the right place for this, but I think an open discussion is ok as long as it is kept in line. Maybe if we can get this person to see WHY it is so wrong, they will not be so toxic anymore in the future.

Clearly itā€™s incapable of being ā€œkept in line.ā€ Letā€™s just drop this and let the moderators handle the reports.

Noz pls. You should know better than to try to shame someone for trying to do the right thing. Making this forum post was unnecessary and the reports should have been done privately, but still.

Reports will be dealt with guys. The fact that several people chose to name themselves this is particularly sad and I hope that those who choose to do this will think more thoroughly about it in the future
