Hey just gonna throw my opinion in. Vanilla townies are fine, they are a change of pace, because usually everyone has an abilitiies and no abilities are fun sometimes. Now the problem I have with them is when one of two things happen. There is nothing to supplement the VT experience like ITAs, Mechanics, or Events. So its only voting and talking. At this point you are only there to make reads and vote. This can get really dull in some case and really dampen the mood of the game imo. Like Im not the best read maker so when its all I can do, I kinda like I feel even more pointless. The other problem is when one side feels heavily out weighed in abilities compared to another. So like if its only VTs against a stacked team of wolves with like 2 or so abilities each. Like VT townies can be fine but mechanics need to be there for fun and it needs to be that the wolf team isnt stacked compared to them.
I’d argue just making reads is far more fun than just pushing buttons
but that’s just me
VT when ITAs exist is commonly seen as still “very fun”
Therefore if the mechanics are interesting the likelihood of player retention should be high
However there are several players with a severe annoyance toward playing VT regardless of mechanics.
