for us it’s like if it’s

3x^2 + 2x -1/x +1

you find the thing that makes X 3x^2(3x in this case) and multiply the whole divisor by that.

so you have 3x^2 + 3x, subtract that from the dividend and you have -x -1, multiply by -1, and you subtract -x - 1 from -x -1 which is 0.

so your answer is 3x - 1

plus my teacher always put the annoying and pointless restriction of it only working with a degree of 1 on it
