Eevee was originally on Derpsā wagon and switched to Amelia when everyone else did. So I donāt think Eevee was trying to save him and more like mislynch him.
I feel like this is a weak reason to think of what Richard said as a townslip.
There are many reasons why Alice might not have been poisoned. I saw her claim as a bluff, too.

i do townread quite a good chunk of the game and have varying degrees of townlean on another chunk and so iām feeling safe

I think Hippo has a point here. Ameliaās reaction then wasnāt that she was being voted by a wolfbuddy. Looks like she was genuinely surprised to Hippoās vote on them.
Iāve recently been in a game where I was the only villager active during LyLo, which means village complacency is always going to bother me.
Or heās just confused. The idea of claiming and rescinding and fakeclaiming as a villager must be rather shocking to a player coming from ToL.

Eevee voted Amelia, but it was only done because she was going to be the lynch anyway and he didnāt want to seem suspicious. You need to see the circumstances behind a vote rather than just if someone votes or not.

Yes and for good reason. BD/Villagers/Town who fake claim cause chaos in town discussions. Town doesnāt want chaos from fake claiming townies. Scum on the other hand do want chaos.
