After a night of rest, the sentient ice-cream-based life forms awoke to find that all eleven of them were still alive. Their plan had worked, or at least worked well enough to buy them a night of safety. Still, they wouldnā€™t be safe for long if they couldnā€™t find the traitors, and after the first day they werenā€™t nearly so optimistic.

ā€œI think it might be Butter Pecan,ā€ said the Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. ā€œIt feels like heā€™s not contributing to the discussion nearly as much as the rest of us are. It doesnā€™t seem like heā€™s really worried about finding the traitors.ā€

A couple of the other ice cream based life forms nodded in agreement.

ā€œIā€™m not a traitor, but I know you wonā€™t believe me!ā€ said Butter Pecan. He ran over to the doors where a day earlier the Coffee ice cream had gone. ā€œI have to do this, if I want any of the rest of you to have a chance at surviving!ā€ He ran through the doors, barely managing to wait for the first pair to close before he left the facility entirely.

ā€œā€¦Iā€™m sorry, what?ā€ said the Birthday Cake ice cream. ā€œThat ā€¦ why would you everā€¦ā€ He sighed. ā€œThereā€™s not really much point in going back to sleep, is there? We might as well keep discussingā€¦"
