Watch Your Mouth! Planters Win!

You should or you’d be a negligent host.

But you know that’s pointless! It’s like pointing at an apple, saying “that’s an apple”, and someone cross-referencing it with google to double-check. Why bother? Everyone already knows it’s an apple, nobody’s going to dispute that.

pretty sure players prefer if I don’t ask the internet if are is a post instead of vote counts

No, because then you’d have to say that BOTH the host and the internet would be authorities on deciding what is and what is not a word and since the players don’t know the host’ head by heart, it’d still not work.

I wasn’t the one suggesting we should actually check a dictionary or the internet. I’m just saying it wouldn’t work for that reason, because there would be host bias if you wouldn’t do something like that.

Okay let’s say that

Players don’t need to know the host by heart lol

Pretty sure, there is still host bias then though, hence why the setup is flawed.

Let’s just stop Firekitten we clearly have different host ideologies.

If the host thinks something is a word
Ignores it

Someone else picks it up and tells the host to look it up

Bam

Remember when I held you to the letter in the necromancer game? This is like that.

That’s making the players try and salvage host bias, which is even more terrible.

Solution

Disclaimer in the OP;I’m using the internet and the words I know. I am a human and may make mistakes. Just let me know if I missed something

easy fix

That is just saying:

“I might be biased, sorry”

not really

it’s saying

I’m human tell me if I missed something

It’s not as fun, when that person suddenly blows you up as a player, when you disagree as a player that it was legit.

You saw what happened with my dispute with Maxi just now. Just amplify that x10. Why start a flawed setup in the first place.

That’s the issue here

If a person doesn’t think it’s a word, they look it up or it’s host bias.

I’ll argue that not allowing cookies is host bias

Of course you’d say that as an American. If I use a Dunglish expression, you wouldn’t count it as legit either and if you would, then I could just say it was Dunglish in every scenario bypassing the mechanic.

Easier solution

Force a player to edit the post that didn’t have an actual word in it to an actual word. They can’t edit anything outside of that or it’s a modkill

Easy

There is still host bias, because the host still has to decide what posts need to be edited or not.
