Frankly people need to learn to read on this site without using meta.
One of the main reasons I managed to win FoL30 was because I wasn’t on my main so people couldn’t use the “Alice is still alive at LyLo” argument.

obviously it’s bad that PKR’s slot was aggressively lowposting, but Vul replacing in on D3 and immediately finding a miscleared wolf and obvtowning himself isn’t really something wolves have counterplay to. they’ve spent the entire game appealing to the people in the game, as they should, and keeping alive miselimable players, and replacements by their very nature undermine that

Your argument boils down to the Nirvana fallacy. Yes, replacements aren’t ideal but when you have people that join games and don’t play then what else can you do? Let them wreck the game’s quality by letting the dead slot go on?
I was a wolf in FoL30 and I’d still would be for Vulgard being subbed in Wazza’s slot as it’s frankly just pointless to play a game where you get free MLs just because you have a villager who ins and doesn’t play.
I don’t think Arete is saying that replacements shouldn’t happen or mods should be more stingy with them.
I think he’s just pointing out that situations where replacements are required is lose-lose, rather than “just as soon as we sub them out, everything is good again”

If I had a magical perfect solution I would just do that
I don’t even think replacing out PKR was incorrect, I think it’s a better alternative than having his slot 1-post for the rest of the game
I just dislike how a lot of people basically treat replacements as costless while ignoring the ways in which they also damage game quality
It’s a necessary evil.
You can’t really expect people to play a game if they’re forced to.
