Stop giving out titles and let someone get the title of the award they won until another player granted it/a month or something
ngl i didnt even notice titles were an incentive
i donāt vibe with that
make it all about meaningless cookie points
the current way titles are handled, i donāt think giving them out as an award here makes sense

how about we delete all custom titles that were not paid for and/or earned in some other way

Oh one thing I should clarify
I am all for mods doing āpaper plateā awards
I think theyāre a great way to highlight people who made specific achievements or whatnot and historically Iāve done them in nearly every game I hosted on the site (and also probably some I didnāt even host lol)
But I think codifying it and adding additional incentives is where it starts to lose focus on the stated goals
Will see if I think of anything but I canāt say I relate to the idea of not trying as town so I donāt really know what would discourage people from doing that

I personally donāt think Iāve asked for a title because of how easy they are to obtain
I would like one if they actually meant anything
i donāt care much on how titles are handled (in the sense that, if it changed, i wouldnāt be against it)
mine gets changed all the time, i find it semi funny
but given how thats the case i canāt really support having them be an award

these cool rare things
and then they just
stopped being that
I was like, super hype when I got the ācrazy in loveā badge to use as a title
and that charm is kind of gone when like 40% of the active community has some cool custom title

iām cool with mods and judges/guides having titles
ideally it just says like āToL Guideā even if this forum is rarely used for ToL-related things at this point so people know someone officialā¢ they can talk to
but I also do think that titles, in general, are ideally rarely given out for big contributions to the community, or for donating to the community via patreon.

I would like to say that I am a supporter of the idea that titles should be earned andā¦ special.
Yes this is hypocritical of me, as I have changed the titles of some players, but have felt guilty about doing this, quite a few times.
I suggested a month-long custom title as an āawardā without properly explaining that I think we should have a āclean slateā on them.
That being said, I think it is fair that we get consent from players who have a custom title who did not purchase it or earn it otherwise, rather than mass-deletion.
