That isn’t proof. That’s speculation. Some people would play both modes.
Also, how does vet lobby not split the community if ranked does (personally I do like Vet’s mode, but still)

Instead of getting a ranked mode, as we’re pretty sure Casual Mode is coming soon, I would rather set it so that all new players are required to play Casual to get a feel of the game genre a certain amount of times so that they’ll at least enter Classic mode with a good feel for the game. We honestly don’t have the playerbase for a Ranked Mode.
It does, but that’s only one of the two people I was talking about. TinyDeer also makes some decent points about community health.
Beyond that, however, Casual is coming. So Vandalay’s “only one split” argument is pretty much already occuring.
I agree but will also probably be playing more Casual.
I like Classic though, Casual seems too much like ToS in my opinion, without the complexity of ToL
Apparently a lot of people don’t want ranked. That’s fine with me as long as we get a vet’s lobby, because as I said earlier, my main complaint is games being decided by players’ lack of knowledge about the game (for example, sorc being executed by Cult who doesn’t know she’s an ally).
That’s kind of the point
Easier to balance too
I’m against any split of the community and find it completely unnecessary, but if it must happen, then a vet’s mode (or Casual, etc.) with an experience floor but without any sort of ranking would be a compromise I would be willing to discuss.
I would love a Vet lobby. Would require 50 games or something to unlock.
Elo based systems just wouldnt work in this game unless the playerbase grows 10x.
Or what if the vet’s lobby was simply the top fraction of players based on number of games played? For example top 1/3 of player base (where top is having the most games played).
I think basing it on fraction of games played would hurt queue times less
That would result in people sometimes losing vet status. I’m not sure that’s a good thing.
I still don’t feel it’s a good idea to split the community, and I especially think it would be a bad idea to have multiple different role lists (which makes the game very hard to balance.) The community is mostly fine now - ToL’s one mode has better strategy and better players than ToS ranked. I’m not sure it’s going to be possible to improve on it just by tinkering with splits to the playerbase like this.
You make a good point, I guess vet lobby made up of players based on number of games played is the way to go. But we definitely need a vet lobby. As I said before, it’s not fun to have games decided by player’s lack of knowledge about the game … like unseen executing sorc because they think she’s an enemy
