Yea, I think the current ToL state is bad because i think there are some things who make the game more luck than skill based.
However that does not mean the whole game is bad.

The current state of ToL refers to the whole game as of this patch
which is significantly different than the whole game 2 weeks ago, and probably notably different from it 2 weeks from now. Heās not saying the game is bad, heās saying he disagrees with the decisions that lead to the current update. Not sure how much of them I agree with and disagree with. but I see his concept there.
I totally agree with this, in the last few patches, king removed OE is good, cw change was kinda good, adding pretender is good, but most of the other changes are just unnecessary.
About mercs, the first merc maybe op if contracted with evil but at least I had fun playing him, he was someone who had a contract that he must protect, now heās just a beggar begging for brilders and hope to win, one of the shittiest class in ToL IMO not because itās hard to win but just not fun to play.
I really didnāt like the sorc/inquisitor changes as well, those arenāt really necessary IMO, sorc vs inq game was interesting I didnāt know why they changed it, now sorc is just an upgraded version of Arsonist who can attack and douse in the same night and inq is a mini NK whos goal is to kill specific players (mostly bd), sorc vs inq was really a unique and fun part of ToL IMO.
I really hope theyād revert the merc/ sorc inq changes, I think those are attempts to make evil more fun to playā¦ but in a bad way (since evil can now also claim alch and merc). The pretender is a nice addition but since she has no guard when kinged and needs to survive, itās kind of a shitty class ATM it forces the pretender to out herself when king otherwise evil might kill her, and bd doesnāt like pretender as the king.
I disagree with literally this entire post
What? No one liked playing sorc who died N1 to a random stab and inquisitor was way too easy.
āSureā - Every Offensive class ever.
āDelet plsā - Every other class ever.
Alch = Nightwatch + Phys + Drunk + Butler + Killer
D1 : āHey guys , scorned here. Gonna TB the king tomorrow.ā
N1 : Found Unseen member.
D2 : TBās the King : *Hey guys , this guy is unseen. Up him!"
No one does that. āEvil king!ā
Itās even worse when scorned outs themselves d1.
Oh boy if we only had a class that prevented people from visitingā¦ cough cough The Sellsword cough cough.
I donāt get the hate for OE. It encouraged people to claim to king. Sure, mass claiming can be annoying, but king is boring if no one claims to them.
Interesting != balanced. Inq was not fun to play as or against. It also had an easy win condition(usually BD killed the sorc for them, and when they did kill the sorc it was a yolo stab)
100% agreed. his investigative abilites were worthless (as off the bat you know 4 of them are going to be tainted), so in effect he was limited to scumreading or blind guesses. When it comes to scumreading of course heās on even footing with the 9 BD that are also looking for the same thing, the only thing he had which they didnāt was the ability to kill on a hunch because a wrongful stab helps his win condition more than it hurts it (1 less suspect).
I actually agree with this, but instead of making Inq a mini NK and Sorc a super Arsonist, they could balance the game by removing magic dust or something, thatād make the Inq game a lot more interesting coz his invest ability would be worthwhile. Inq vs Sorc game was unique part of ToL Iām really sad seeing gone because of ābalanceā reason. Balance =/= fun btw.
Scorned needs a rework, Pretender needs to be buffed imo
Scorned should be changed to living to see 2/3 players executed, but they must be Blue Dragon Players
I disagree. The NK + Unseen/Cult interaction is both more interesting and more important.
Removing the NK (Because old Sorcerer didnāt qualify due to her wincon) also removes that critical dynamic which throws off the gameplay loop in a bad way.
It means that Unseen/Cult have their 2nd biggest threat auto removed at no cost while Sorc has to rely on others and randomly loses for no reason sometimes.
The best part of the Interaction where Scum and Lost wolf try to find each other is kept in classes better designed for it. AKA: Sellsword and Evil King
Pretender is fine. No death immunity needed when you have the power of WIFOM
Pretender needs the immunity. You are thinking of pretender king
oh i thought they meant king
Itās main problem is that it is sad if the king doesnāt die and youāre sat there unable to win because there are only 4 players left (Iāve seen that happen to a pretender before)
Buff pretender to check the class type of the person they check as well if they have royal blood or not
Pretender should have Royal blood itself imo. Or at least gain it if it kills someone who does.
Of courses, we may need to make special show up as investigative, for obvious reasons.
Something along these lines is a much better solution.
Or maybe getting all of the other miscellaneous information on them. You know the symbols on the class card? Those.
