you’re not seeing the difference
she can’t die because she’s not in the simulation
i.e. she’s not a test subject, she’s a host because she got out of the simulation and is alive outside of the testing environment. we can’t reach her physically until we also get out.
it’s like those weird psychology experiments where they offer you some small compensation for your time in participating, when people mostly just do it out of curiosity/interest.

if your wincon gets changed from ‘escape the death game and choose the mastermind’ to ‘choose the mastermind’ and it being a given that you can’t die it’s literally just the same thing except you can’t die

I was thinking, to make everything work as intended, meaning that the MM isn’t really bad here
but considering people are literally dropping dead except for Ici despite this being a sim environment, there’s probably sabotage involved, either externally or internally
actually if Ici still has to find the MM then they weren’t planned as part of the simulation or Ici would know I think
ici entering the host pod and still having her wincon be to find the mastermind would imply that the mastermind is a rogue
