1.0.16e1 Patch Notes

That’s not really true, is it? Because starting King is really one of three classes: Good King, Evil King, or Neutral King. King’s ROLE is confirmed, but not their faction (w/King’s faction being impossible to 100% determine until death due to being immune to investigative classes). That make the King just as much a question mark as anyone else. Because of that, King’s info is just as likely to be fake as someone claiming to be Sheriff. If someone claims to be Sheriff and have found Unseen, you have no idea if they’re telling the truth. Similarly, if King claims to have found Unseen, you have no idea if they’re telling the truth or if they’re trying to get BD killed until it’s over.

In all those cases, it involves the players using their own best judgment on whether or not to trust the info. If people just blindly trust it, that’s on them, not an inherent problem with Allies itself. In the same way it’s on BD if they just blindly trust a Sheriff or Observer claim and vote someone up based on just that and nothing else. The problem isn’t with the abilities, but how people use them.

Evil King will almost always get scum they find lynched for towncred

So pretty guaranteed tbh

How often does an evil king radomly claim he has found a BD as Unseen early game. NEVER. Normally an Evil King will bus a teammate.

Plus you still need to figure out new King’s alignment

Well I am a player just like you and my opinion of the state of the king holds just as much water.

We can’t all be leaders and some classes are more suited for that than others. That you like to be active and chatty during the day and get killed off immediately at night, because you’re too chatty that is your prerogative. Physician has zero defensive skills, without a DK and we are talking about early game, and you’re just making yourself a target. Anyone can counterclaim you immediately getting you lynched, since you have zero confirmability.

If you’re fighting over that position, BD has already won.

This is so false, as MM shows as evil to evil king before day 3, and cult has amazing strength in numbers. I would never reveal any evil in my evil king games. I just ask for whisper curtains and if they start suspecting me I put up someone I know to be BD or my prince suspect and lynch him. Many evil kings have this thing that they want to survive desperately. Your faction should win, you don’t need to survive for that.

Having an evil King alive very late game vastly outweighs making one mislynch. Especially in a Cult game where they are meant to convert very often and there are no important members it makes by far the most sense to bus a Cult member to aid your team late game.

MM is replaceable then, so who cares?

Also, it seems to me like you’re capping your potential by completely disregarding powerful plays for safe ones. Risk is good. Calculated risks are better.

Because you might encounter BD with some sense and they see that you just lynched MM before day 4 and realise you’re evil king. You down your numbers and effectively out yourself. Cult games, I acknowledge that there is just a difference in playstyle between us then. However exactly the fact that we are having this debate, proves that it’s not so cut and dry that evil kings play like 100% BD kings early on. You are saying you take on more risk by bussing your teammate. I say you take on less risk, because you don’t want to be outed as evil king early. Risk cuts both ways.

But the chances are usually in favor of you lynching either the Assassin or the N1 convert.
Secondly, lol implying BD has any sense.

I’d take a huge amount of towncred with a 33% risk of becoming confirmed scum any day.

I was worried that this would make people not claim to king so that he couldn’t kill power classes if evil. Instead I’ve been seeing lots of power plays involving the Kings Kills and not all of them were even by the king.

Ex: I had a game as good king where someone claimed prince to me D2. Turns out he was Hunter (had him in my logs as hunter anyways lol. I switched it to prince when I found out). He explained everything to me once I found the real Prince (who I put in logs as hunter and told both prince and Hunter what I just did so they don’t kill each other) and we were able to use killer guards to find the Reaper.

In other games an evil king would be outed by power claims suspiciously dying after claiming to the king.

In both situations King was a large but fun presence.

Okay, but I’d like to suggest one thing: can we rename Killer Guards to something else? King has, Guards and… Killer Guards… what?

So, usable on N3 (or N4?).
If N3, King gets to kill one person then is executed cos BD can’t risk it being evil king with killing power and Unseen can’t risk it being Good King with Killing power.

N4…King dies D4.

Also, who is going to claim to a King with killing power? “Prince here, I’ve 3 Physician Claims, I will exe one tonight King”.

King Kills Prince

I do feel it’s a step in the right direction, it’s making the King have power again rather than being useless until end game…but I don’t think it’s a good thing, for the reasons I mention.

It was already renamed

It’s more than 33% chance, it’s 50% chance the second day, since you can’t pick up on people who have been converted. 3 neutrals, 1 prince, 1 prince jailed, 1 sheriff lead to roughly half a chance of MM missing his n1 convert, so 41.5% chance the third day. Those are huge odds for not only outing yourself as evil possibly, but also making unseen lose a member. The chances are maybe usually better than 50%, but the outcomes are either completely losing you the game, or a debatable amount of gain. I think you and a majority of the community like this strategy more, because you survive and playing the game is fun. This is detrimental to your actual winning chance though.

Oh ok

Anyone the king wants too. Who isn’t going to claim under threat of death?

So don’t call out your N1 check?

I don’t see your problem with this.

So you claim and might die if the King is against your faction…or you don’t claim and might die anyway. At that point, if I was the Prince or an important class and the King is threatening me, I’d just out myself in public and ask for protection.
