I live in the city tied for the second best public transit in the country. I probably shouldn’t be talking
- NYC
- Washington, D.C. / Chicago (Tie)
- idk
like if i had a car
barring traffic, work is a like 10 minute drive
We are living in a really big city, but having a car is still pretty useful
With public transport my way to work was 90 min, while with car its just 20 min
And shopping without car is just awful
On the “L” (what we call the elevated train), taking the intra-city train is usually faster, especially during rush hour.
If you’re using mainly buses then yes driving is definitely faster since the bus stops at every block here
But if it’s mainly the “L” / Subway, it’s a comparable speed
i don’t exactly live in the city so a car is pretty important for me
Oh yeah def
if you live in a place where public transit doesn’t exist by google maps’s records, you absolutely must have a car or you’re helpless.
Well… in my parent’s town public transit exists.
There’s a bus, 10 times per day.
And a train station
Doesn’t mean tho you can get easily with that to work
during rush hour there’s a train arriving around every 2 minutes in my city haha
Whereas you might be waiting for a long time on the expressway in traffic at the same time
but yes
things worked out well considering inheritance so i’m honestly insanely lucky to be in the position i’m in
So many people come here to work. I don’t blaming them for spending so much on the train system here
TO BE FAIR
that train station has only 1 rail, and you can’t even buy tickets outside of the train
lol fair
Downtown here you have seven different rail lines all stopping at the same stop very fast over and over again
i honestly don’t think i could ever live in a big city ngl
I don’t think I could ever not live in one
Well to be fair it is sort of impossible for me to leave this sort of environment currently since I can’t drive
But I just love urban life so much
Life in a nutshell:
Living in the town is awful because everyone knows you
Living in the city is awful because you can’t see the stars
we spent a night just stargazing in a desert in israel – that’s the one thing I realized that I still envy about the countryside haha
