I like the idea of a Bounty Hunter but not with a whisper-reading ability, that’s too easy.
What if instead of the day ability, we instead have a tracker type ability 
Like place it on someone to see who they visit each night.

I’m not disagreeing with either you or @Pige0n at all. Competent Good Kings can do some serious work.
The issue here is that for the KWM to be +Expected Value every game, your king is going to need to perform exceptionally well every time he rolls Good King.
I’m going to highlight what both you and Pigeon are focusing on.
You’re basing the entire effectiveness of the whisper meta on 3 separate variables that have a wide range. Your King is not guaranteed to be an advanced player. Your King is not guaranteed to be on your team. Your King may be both a skilled player and a good king and STILL make mistakes because uncertainty is the name of this game.
Think of it this way. For the whisper meta to be profitable for BD over an infinite amount of games, the King needs to roll Good a percentage of the time. We know what that percentage is. In addition to that, the King also needs to roll “competent”, as in, a player that can fully utilize the strengths of the whisper meta. In addition to that, if those 2 prerequisites have been fulfilled, your king needs to not make any mistakes at all. Skilled != no mistakes ever. The best ToL make mistakes all the time, even if their choice at the moment was the best shot they had at winning.
You need 3 variables to line up perfectly for the KWM to work well. But lining those 3 up happens far less often than people assume, and is too unwieldly and unreliable to be effective over an infinite amount of games.

Strongly agree that the Possessor should be able to puppet strings the King and it will kill the meta. Flavorwise, why is it in the moral code of the Possessor to refuse to mind control the King? Why does he care anyway?

Whisper King Meta is optimal play (or at least as good as any other strategy) when all players are advanced. That is my position. I do not recall seeing anyone both denying King Whisper Meta is good play while also proposing an alternative.
