Castle Desolation - Concept

The problem with an Evil Sovereign is that I’m designing the started Sovereign to be a team-based class. Since Evils are going to be mainly lone wolfy roles then and Evil Sovereign is… eh.

yeah makes sense I like this way better

So… I’ve come up with a new mechanic that will tie in with NPCs. I’ve called it the Light of Hope.

Light of Hope

In short, the LoH is a giant Crystal that’s located in a specific room in the castle. while the LoH is working, good players do +30% damage to NPCs. This should help you guys burn through the map. However, keep in mind that it’s possible for Evils to destroy the LoH. Once it’s been destroyed, Goods will lose this bonus and instead evils will gain +30% damage against Good-aligned players when the LoH is destroyed. Good players need to wait 6 hours before they can use a Shard of Light to repair it, where it will become immune to Evil attacks for 6 hours.

Obviously, there may be wincons related to it.

Guarding/Attacking the LoH should probably add a more dynamic and strategic element to the game.

I’m going to headbutt it really hard until it breaks

Each player begins with a weapon, so you won’t need to use your bare hands to break it if you rush it right when the game begins.

In addition, remember the folders that I placed around Death City that contained info on each evil character? I’m basically making a mechanic out of it called the Grimoire System.

Each Evil Class will have a grimoire of their class. If they obtain their own grimoire, then they will receive a shit-ton of buffs. If a Good player obtains an Evil player’s grimoire and the evil is dead, then the grimoire will give some slight passive buffs to them.

In addition, this means that evils need to fall to a safeclaim class as if they claim their actual class with a fake alignment+wincon then they’ll still be outed.

giving fakeclaims is reasonable but i expect at least 3-4 evils to trueclaim

myself included if i play

Doubt it. I actually put more incentive for Goods to kill Evils this time around such as them dropping a Crystal and giving EXP, so I don’t think that a repeat of Night’s “claim Evil Chapter I and survive until the last chatper” shit would happen again.

I was thinking that those NPCs would give you question or something like that but they seem to be more acting like mobs.

Almost everyone loves puzzles as long as they understand what they need to do~ is every mechanic here be part of a puzzle one way or another?

can these still be destroyed

Could you give me that grimoire for no reason at all? I just want to read it haha

Guarding a static room seems like one of the more passive wincons you wanted to avoid if that would be part of it.

I’d suggest to possibly make this randomly appear in existing rooms to make it more dynamic and defending it then also more interesting, since there might be more props you can use in defense. Something like submerging in a lake environment or surrounding it with bookcases in a library. You might also need to search for it then. This will avoid a guarding role being, go to light crystal, auto defense actions up, afk.

How would neutrals factor into this?

Me, who has a grimoire of everybody’s class:

Eh, no since they also serve other importances.

The kind of purpose here is to encourage Evils to further their own agenda and mess good players up by doing more things rather than just break crystals and kill good players. I’m planning on making the wincons more active so if there’s one related to the LoH then it’s probably not going to be as simple as guarding it.
