Class Idea - The Mage

Class Type: Special
Faction: Neutral
Unique, Conversion Immune

Note that it has currency similar to reapers souls called mana.

Passive 1 - Live Off Mana: If you die at night with atleast one 2 mana, you will consume it and continue living, can be bypassed.

Passive 2 - Focused: Immune to most occupation and redirection abilities. You also start off with 2 mana.


Night Ability 1 - Spellcast: Cast 1 of 5 unlockable spells (starts out with none) (i get into that in the day abilities section) (āˆž uses) (costs 1 mana)
Spell 1 - Magic Sense (Investigative) - Discover a playerā€™s faction.
Spell 2 - Flame (Killer) - Kill a player.
Spell 3 - Hallucinate (Offensive) - Prevent a player from using their night ability.
Spell 4 - Stalk Mind (Social) - Read all whispers to and from two target players.
Spell 5 - Magical Aid (Support) - Heal a player

Night Ability 2 - Generate Mana: Gain +2 Mana (āˆž uses)


Day Ability 1 - Magic Study: Choose a player, You will learn the spell equivalent to the players class type, if you already learnt their class types spell, Gain +1 Mana, If they were a Special class, Gain +2 Mana (3 uses)

Day Ability 2 - Experimental Mana: Learn a spell you havenā€™t unlocked, Use up 5 mana. (āˆž uses)

So itā€™s a buffed Reaper + Alchemist

For a second there I didnā€™t know what class faction this is. maybe because THERE IS NO FACTION NAME

I was also confused how you unlocked the spell until i scrolled to the bottom.

Could you specify uses? That whould help to get a good idea of how strong this class is

specified that all of them are (āˆž uses) and added spells costing 1 mana.

with unlimited uses magic study is real OP, because you can just confirm claims and at the same time slowly gain every spell

make it max 3 uses?

This wincon has a few problems

  • Nothing to differentiate it from ā€˜Survivalā€™ in most instances (and at that point why would it exist?)
  • Has little impact on how to play the neutral (i.e it plays like a BD, when neuts should have more dynamic wincons)

In addition, this class suffers from a little too much bloat when it comes to abilities, and is extremely complicated. Mechanically speaking most roles should not be intensive.

Conceptually speaking this class needs a rework to end up actually working as a neut.

So i was thinking we donā€™t need a rework but change his wincon to ā€œCast a unique spell on each factionā€ and his magic study ability checks if the faction of the target has already been spellcasted. This would make it so he has more ways to play, as he could heal the cult and occ BD or could kill cult but help the NK. thoughts?
