[Class Suggestion] Highwayman (Neutral, Killer)

Highwayman (Neutral) - A traveling kidnapper and extortionist.

Passive 1:
Leering Mask - You are immune to death on nights when you successfully use a night ability. (Lore reasoning: You’re out doing your crimes, you have on your mask, you’re ready for trouble. If you’re prevented from doing your actions, your plans have been thrown off and you don’t see the knife coming. XD )

^ So if you’re blocked, don’t do anything, or you otherwise fail to use either of your 2 night abilities, you are not immune to death.

Day Ability:
Costly Informants - Select this ability to see how many players of each faction are left alive. (Single use.)

^ For example: “Your paid informants claim there are 3 Blue Dragon, 2 Evil Classes, and 2 Neutral Classes currently living.” It doesn’t tell you if it’s Unseen or Cult, etc. Evil King would be counted in “Evil Classes”, Neutral King in “Neutral Classes”, etc. You get no information other than current numbers in each sub group.

Night Ability 1:
Discreet Disposal - Select a player at night to kill them and have them “go missing” the following day. There is no notice of the player missing, they are simply gone and it’s up to players to notice. 2 nights later, they are revealed as “presumed dead”, and the standard death notices are shown, along with an empty room with no corpse. (Unlimited use.)

Night Ability 2:
Lofty Ransom - Select a player at night to “go missing” the following day. This works the same as “Discreet Disposal”, but the abducted player is not killed. They will simply be absent for one day as if you had killed them. You will be able to hear the abducted player speaking, but cannot speak privately to them yourself. IE: You can see them talk, but can’t whisper to them, etc. (Limited Use: 2?)

^ This ability allows you to protect other Neutrals from the day’s events, or “test” a pick if you’re unsure about whether you actually want to kill them, and more. Players will never truly know if someone who is missing has died, or will be back the next day.

Lore:
A man of mystery, the Highwayman is the bane of wealthy travelers and all who find themselves lost on dark, twisting paths. For a few coins, he’ll make your enemies disappear. For a few more coins, he’ll make you disappear for those enemies.

Comments:
I like the idea of players having to actually notice someone has gone missing. The Highwayman can also severely screw with people by abducting someone and letting them live - instantly making that victim seem suspicious. Why did the Highwayman spare them?? Hmmmmm…

Oh my, no- just no.

There wasn’t enough time for you to actually read this. And why “no” to that sentence?

“Kidnapper”
lots of kids play the game and err, um

There’s an Alcoholic. I don’t think creating roles for kids is a huge issue for the Devs. XD

Drinking isn’t really bad though.

Okay, you’re saying alcoholism isn’t that bad. We’re done here. Please don’t flood my thread.

I’m saying drinking isn’t bad- but… kidnapping is um, kind of… illegal?

Do you think murder is legal? Please leave. I’m not asking again.

I don’t think murder is legal, but murder is a concept modern-children are familiar, and comfortable with (cough CoD). Kidnapping is err, another story…

Reported for off-topic. Not responding further.

Dooku, please keep reality and games seperate. (I was already here before the report btw)

“off-topic”
but kidnapping is part of your class, I don’t agree with it- I’m just voicing my opinions.

The killing system you are using is really good and exciting;but maybe the class name could be changed.
Plus: Does the person who went missing’s name go missing to from the playerboard?

I don’t think it’d be missing from the board, necessarily. It’d be more like… “Jane… John… Ivo! Wait, where’s Ivo?!” XD

Love this. I adore Costly Informants and Discreet Disposal. Having to physically notice if somebody is gone from the screen is really neat. However, would this would also mean their journal is destroyed then? If so, that is an extremely powerful effect for NK and unfun effect for BD. Journal destruction mechanics are unhealthy for the game because it frustrates players. If a player doesn’t contribute much during the night action, they have their journal that can help their team and feel like they made an impact. I like the idea of altering journals, but deleting them entirely is unfun for BD and not fun enough for NKs.

What if during the 2nd day reveal after they’ve been kidnapped, a “journal was found in the woods!”?

Another small lore issue is this – the person is missing and a body is never recovered, but somehow their role is revealed to the town. It’s a small disconnect with the narration of the game, I think. Like, how does Castle Adiart suddenly determine what this person’s role was without finding their body?

Great suggestion overall.

The Journal, etc. would be revealed in 2 nights (or whatever number people agreed was better) along with the “PlayerName is missing and presumed dead.” notice revealing they were indeed killed by the Highwayman when they disappeared.

I was thinking of it like - “Yeah, he’s missing. Okay, go through his room.” XD

The lore/role thing, it’s an easy fix if this becomes an issue, can just say “PlayerName was found in a roadside ditch.” instead of “is presumed missing”. The room can even still be empty, because it’s not like they’d drag the corpse back to its bedroom. XD

This makes sense too lol

I edited a couple things in above, just wanted to note so it’s not like I ignored the rest. Just realized: “Oh yeah, I should be more specific about those other points, too.”

Does the highwayman look like this?
