[Class suggestion] Mathematician/Researcher

Mathematician - BD invest
Passive: Focused - Immune to ability’s that change target.

Night ability 1: Calculate - Check if the first targets ability would work on the second (unlimited)
Night ability 2: Inspect - Check if the target had an ability used on them that failed (unlimited)

Researcher - Unseen Invest
Passive: Focused - Immune to ability’s that change target.

Night ability 1: Study - Check what message the second target would receive from the first visiting him. You may target unseen members if you want (unlimited)
Night ability 2: Inspect - Check if the target had an ability used on them that failed (unlimited)

So if I calculate on a knight, what ability would it check?

What class is the second Target and what Ability is the Knight using? Just like with redirects it’s based on whatever Ability they used that night.

I guess it would be:

Sacrifice: succeed if the other person is attacked

Cold steel: Succeed if the target would die from the attack.

I feel like there are a lot of variables here with the Calculate ability. What if you check a Fool who hides that night or a Court Wizard who uses Ice Ward. Are you just going to get a message saying that the ability they used wouldn’t work on whoever the target was you picked, or would you get something more specific saying “this ability cannot be used to target others” or something. What happens when they don’t use an ability? Does it just tell you that?

You cannot visit a fool using hide or a CW using ice ward. Your ability can fail too.

Just to be clear here is a list of the interaction results.

Anyone who would be occupied/prevented from visiting the target/didn’t choose an ability will output as failed.

Expert investigation/Test Fath: Succeds on Unseen
Smite: Succeeds on CL Conversion target
Heal/Guard/Sacrifice: Succeeds on attacked target
Heal: Succeeds on poisoned or bleeding target
Occupy/Debauchery: Succeeds on anyone that isn’t immune.
Ally’s/Window peek/Identity: Succeeds on non-BD.
Wisp: Succeeds if visited (so always).
Cold steel: Succeeds on anyone that would die to it.
Wolf: Succeeds on non-phys/Alch/Herbalist.
Bear: Succeeds if he was attacked.
Spike trap: Suceeds if not immune.
Snare trap: Succeeds if visiting and not immune.
Defile: Succeeds if they die.
Convert/foresight: Succeeds on non immune.
Mind link: Succeeds on non Psychic and non linked people.
Reanimate: Always fails.
Follow/watch carefully/flirt/Gaze: Always succeed unless mind warped
Frame/self-frame: Succeed if target is invesrigated as unseen/cult.
Mind warp: Succeeds on anyone it tampered with.
Assassin/Reap/Possess: Succeeds on anyone it kills.
Brotherhood/dark whisp: Succeeds if a cult/unseen member is found BD
Fire wall: Always succeeds
Stand guard: Succeeds on contract
Execute: Succeeds on prisoner
Snoop: Always succeeds
Listen in: Succeeds if Prince is alive
Multi target Ability’s: Always succeed
Berzerk: Succeeds if target is healed/immune.
Revenge/Rebound: Anyone that would die to it that accused an/thier unseen/contract.
Sellswords guard(forgot name): Succeeds on unseen.
Find magic: Succeeds on magic user.
Ruthless efficiency: Succeeds on magic user.

I think that’s everything. If I missed something let me know.

Okay, so Calculate counts as visiting your target. And targeting a player who has 2 night abilities will base itself on whichever one they use that night.

If you target an Observer and they use peek on a Fool who is framing himself that night, will Calculate return a success for you?

If you target a Hunter who chooses to do nothing that night, will you just get a failed message?

I would like to point out that you yourself are asking the question. “Would his ability work IF he targeted this other person?” on to your question:

1: It would return success. He got a non BD result. Same for sheriff and paladin. The frame works on you too after all

2: Yes. Null visits return as failed.

Would also like to clarify that if a butler/drunk/whatever occupys your target directly you are uneffected but if your second target is a butler using party then it would always return as failed unless they are occ immune.
