I just don’t feel like Gossip and Report share any resemblance other than having a similar yet different end-result.
Well, what makes Noble a Social was originally because of it’s spy ability. The Gossip is closer in resemblance to an invest ability tbh.
That means that this disagreement is about definitions and therefor can’t go anywhere no matter how much we talk.
Here’s the thing though: everything is investigative. Butler occupying? He’s searching for immunities. Drunk redirect? Finding if someone is attacking. Court wizard barrier? No one attempted to occupy or convert them.
You’re not wrong that, yes he is getting information what the class does. However it has a few restrictions that the class has to actually do something. And it also has the weakness of not finding converts and being I distinguishable from converts. I.e. I follow someone and find they redirected someone. I don’t know if they are drunk or alcoholic.
Edit: I think the overall problem with social classes is that most fun abilities they could get are investigative in some way. We’ve been through multiple abilities and they’ve all been boring or too provable. Crier, decree. Both super complete do nothing abilities that mostly serve to prove the noble.

Won’t pursue this on being Investigative if people will keep telling me that it’s social.
After all, it’s up to the devs to consider this right?
(Thinking back, the original reason of me considering Messenger as invest was give MM a new throw-off when he uses foresight. Not necessary tbh.)
You’re not entirely wrong that it is investigative. I think we just need to draw the line somewhere so we can have social classes with real abilities. Right now invest already has 3 bd classes, while social has 2. Not that there is anything wrong with more invest, but I think if we can reason it, invest abilities used in a “social” way are preferred.
I also think this is still a possible mm claim. The only way it wouldn’t be is if princess invests the mm, and right now, I see MMs claim physicians or knights a decent amount.
