[Class Suggestion] The Deputy/The Apprentice

The Deputy

Blue Dragon Investigative
Second In Line (Passive) - If a Sheriff/Paladin dies, you will become that class.
Leader Search (Night) - You find out if the target player is a Leader. The Sheriff, The Paladin, The Prince, The Mastermind†, and The Cult Leader are all Leaders. - Infinite uses
Leader Identity (Night) - If the target player is a Leader, you will determine their class. - 2 uses
Your objective is to defeat the Unseen or Cult, and any neutrals that seek to do you harm.

Converts into The Apprentice or The Seeker

† The Mastermind will not appear as a Leader for the first three nights.

The Apprentice

Unseen Investigative
Second In Line (Passive) - If a Sheriff dies, you will become The Marshal.
Leader Identity (Night) - If the target player is a Leader, you will determine their class. - Infinite uses
Probe (Night) - Determine a player’s class if they are part of the Blue Dragon. - 2 uses
Your objective is to defeat the Blue Dragon and any neutrals that seek to do you harm.

I’ve taken a swing at the second-in-line type class, giving them abilities that are weaker than the Sheriff/Paladin’s ones in some ways, but stronger in others. The only thing I’m not too sure on is their convert, The Apprentice. Making them a weaker Marshal fits the theme, but I’m not sure if that’s penalizing the Unseen for converting the Deputy by chance or not. Should they perhaps just convert directly into The Marshal? Feel free to share your thoughts below.

Cons (In my Opinion) :

  1. Why would you ever convert The Deputy? You literally get limited-use mini-Marshal and a full-charged Seeker.
  2. The Apprentice is a weaker version of the Sheriff. Granted , you can still find The Prince & The Sheriff but it’s not worth since Probe becomes limited.
  3. The Leader Idea is good but why don’t we expand it. For example : Hunter can be a leader.
  4. Do you see The Cult Leader if a Ritualist used Brotherhood? I guess you can’t. This is why it’s weaker. Granted , The Paladin can not Identify The Cult Leader , but still.
  5. What happens if Sheriffs/Paladins get converted and don’t die? You will become useless in Unseen games after the The Mastermind dies and you will become overpowered in Cult games.

Pros (In My Opinion) :

  1. The Deputy can identify fake claimers much easier than other Investigative classes.
  2. The Deputy is not confirmable and thus anyone can claim it.
  3. It will eventually change the meta. The Mastermind will be easier to find.
  4. The Apprentice is a really good convert in some cases though. Especially when you need to find out who’s The Prince.
  5. It’s hard to tell if The Deputy is The Apprentice or not. Even if you become The Assassin. You can still fake claim it.
  6. These classes uses the guaranteed Spawn of 2 other classes which is kinda cool. If there are 2 Sheriffs/Paladins at the start of the game , there would be 3 Sheriffs/Paladins and maybe even 3 Marshals/Seekers.
  7. You can find The Cult Leader pretty early on if The Cult doesn’t have a starting The Ritualist.

Potential Improvements (In my Opinion):

  1. Expand The Leaders. Make it so other classes are Leaders.
  2. In Cult games , The Deputy becomes overpowered. Make it something like this : If you find a Leader , your abilties will be disabled for one night.
  3. Fix the problem about the passive , especially The Deputy’s. What if all The Sheriffs/The Paladins get converted and don’t die? You become an useless Investigative Classes. How about you add The Leader passive that is transferred upon changing classes? That would make this class really balanced. If people that have The Leader passive and were a Sheriff/Paladin die , you will become The Sheriff/The Paladin/The Marshal.

Overall , it’s a pretty good class. Granted , it has some flaws BUT it’s still a idea.
Verdict: Weak but neat.

Does the apprentice get a new probe icon

So a “Backup” class?
Not gonna lie, quite unique concept, it looks nice.
It’s a good fake claim for Evils + Investigative who can gain potentially valuable information.

Not every class should be OP to work quite well in practice. It’s decent. :+1:

But i would probably mention a situation when Sheriff/Paladin would be converted.

Seems like a good class, but my worry is that MMs and CLs will get locked into claiming only Paladins and Sheriffs

It’s so unconfirmable but it’s so op

For the first three nights in Unseen games, the Deputy can do nothing but determine whether someone is Prince or not :stuck_out_tongue:
