[Class Suggestion] The Retainer - The Vassal

The Retainer (Blue Dragon Support)

Passive: Royal Blood - You can step up as King during elections

Night Ability 1: Personal Escort - Infinite uses
You will grant your target occupy immunity tonight and can not be effected by visit blocking abilities.

Night Ability 2: Personal Vouch - 2 uses
Select a living target, if your target is voted to a trial during the day, you can use Jury.

Day Ability 2: Jury - Special
Your votes toward the accused target will be counted as 2. If the King uses Decide Fate, you will instead negate it and your vote will be counted as 1. (King retains the use of Decide Fate)

The Vassal (Unseen Support)

Passive: Royal Blood - You can step up as King during elections

Night Ability: Personal Escort - Infinite uses
You will grant a member of the Unseen occupy immunity tonight and can not be effected by visit blocking abilities.

Day Ability: Life-link - 1 use
Select a target. If you are killed in any sort of way, you will take down your life-link partner. Active for 3 days, first day is the day it was used.

The most basic of Classes but it’s actually something I took a shine to after I made it.

I really like the Vassal and think it is perfect.

I think the Retainer is incredibly under-powered though. There is usually only 1, maybe 2 evil roleblockers each game, sometimes there are none. Plus, the Prince is Occupy Immune anyway, so I think Personal Escort far too situational to have as a main ability.

Yeh, situational is something I can understand.

I was thinking along the lines of…

“Sheriff is known to everyone, Servant, Fool or Possessor may try to occupy him” etc.
Or even Physician going to heal somebody poisoned. Either way, I think having somebody granting occupy immunity really would help especially if Sheriff confides in the Retainer and there’s a Butler occupying at random, yknow?

I like the ability but I think it is too weak and unreliable as a main Night Ability. Maybe you could make it so as well as stopping the target be role blocked it makes your targets action unstoppable to everything - e.g Knight pierces immunity, Sheriff can find MM N1.

I dunno that might not be the best idea but I think it either needs a second Night Ability or a slight re-work of Personal Escort to make it more useful in most situations. The other supports main night ability are all useful in basically EVERY situation.

CW’s occupy is always needed to block evils as they always exist, people are attacked in every game so healing is always useful, and the vast majority of games a decent BD dies who can be revived. When comparing these with the ability to stop someone being roleblocked, even if there is an evil roleblocker, they all significantly stronger.

I’m gonna leave that there so you can think about what you just said

What? Do you think that would be OP? Sheriff would have to claim way earlier than normal for that even to be a strat. There are normally only 2 Night Immune evils anyway for Knight to kill.

My suggestion was not the best lol but it badly needs a second main Night Ability or a mega-buffed version of the current one.

I did have something for a second ability, but I thought it was way too powerful, lemme edit my post

I think the retainer is a bit to specialized.

The problem is that his two abilities rely on there being occupiers. If all the occupiers die (due to there being only 1, etc.) then the retainer’s only ability is to step up for king, which will encourage players to try to execute the king more.

The vassal is great though, he needs no work.

The problem is that not too many classes can occupy so it wouldn’t be useful very often

It is a good ability on the Vassel as you know your teammates and Unseen tend to be roleblocked more, especially late game when it is essential to get a convert or kill.

agreed; perhaps “overwatch” should be changed to something that is not occupy related.

There, I’ve just dug up my Notepad file, this was the extended abilities.

I realize this, originally, I had more, which I updated the OP with.

how many uses? Is it a passive?

Special abilities have no limited uses. A requirement needs to be met for them to be automatically triggered. So there are not specified uses for a reason

Ooh, new royal blood Unseen class. I approve

I think these are my favorite class suggestions of yours so far, Plex. Simple, but interesting and effective.

Personal Escort…what if escorting somebody allowed them to break through a Merc/CW wall as well? It’s slightly weak on its own. Could be interesting. I would personally use Personal Vouch for the first couple nights as to not accidentally give the Assassin/MM occupy immunity.

Sometimes simplicity is underrated and I think these two classes highlight the beauty that can come from it.

Yeah, I feel like Unseen needed a little more Royalty

Personal Escort could get that little bit of umf honestly, I considered that while writing it.

And yeah, Simplicity. Gotta love it.

Do you not think the vote manipulation abilities fall to heavily into a Social class and are out of place for a Support?

Same could be said about Merc and Alchemist with abilities to kill

I was torn between removing Overwatch or letting is be a very mellow Princess Wisp that just tells you who visited you. I’m still thinking about altering it.

how does the double vote thing work (when does it trigger)?

Also, there is no real need for more unseen royals. The only class that has royal blood and can’t be converted is prince, and prince hardly ever steps up unless he has no executions.

If you are going to suggest a royal class, please add the note that it is only available in games without nobles or games with a certain amount of players; this is because the more royal classes, the less good royal blood is.
