I dunno, I like a lot of your ideas but this one doesn’t feel like a class, just a few interesting abilities mashed together.
Retainer may refer to: Retainer (medieval), a person, especially a soldier, in the service of a lord in the late Middle Ages.
Personal Escort - To walk with someone through the Castle to ensure no distractions.
Personal Vouch - To vouch for a lord at the table, whether it’s for or against them.
I’m not asking for all of the abilities to be under the same theme, that would be weird. It is fine to have totally different abilities - CW stopping day abilities has nothing to do with Ice Walling people. What I am trying to say as it is CLEAR that the crux of the CW is his ice wall. That is what defines him.
For the Retainer he has nothing that truly defines him and is caught between two worlds.
Actually, I believe it’s defining feature is getting Personal with people.
Escorting them, Voting for/against them.
I don’t think a class should have a sole ability that defines them… having variety is better.

Maid is my favourite new class I agree. Clearly it’s main function is to compare alignments to find scum. As this is weak on it’s own she has that one-use INVESTIGATIVE ability. These two abilities are what compromise Maid, and what defines her. On top of that she has the more situational find Royal Blood, which noone considers the main part of her kit.
To clarify, I am not saying ewwww this class has too much utility and has too much variety. That is always good. But it’s variety needs to be tied into a key concept of what the class is - it’s role in the team and function. The Retainer lacks that clarity of purpose and presents itself as a Frankenstein mishmash of abilities.
I do like the abilities, especially the RB immune one, but I do think they belong in the same class.
